Vol. IV, Special Issue December 15, 2014
2014 MASTER NATIONAL

To celebrate those who completed the Master National, we've created a booklet called The Road to the Master National that showcases the path each qualifier took to qualify for the Master National.

To find your dog, go to the website, and look under Newsletters and Special Reports. Select Road to the Master National and 2014 Master National Profiles. Then select the flight and either scroll down or use the search box to locate your dog. Then click on the dog's name to see the report. The report can be printed or saved.

A number of people and organizations made this booklet possible. First of all, many thanks to our sponsor Avery Sporting Dog. In addition, we'd like to give a shout out to the many commercial and amateur photographers who provided us with pictures of these wonderful dogs:

We worked hard to obtain photos of all the dogs, but a few are missing. If yours is one of those, please send it to us by January 1, and we'll update the booklet.

Comments and suggestions are of course welcome. Please send them to us at feedback@retrieverresults.com

MASTER NATIONAL 2011-2014
We took a look at the number of dogs qualified, entered and qualifiers over the past three years.

About three quarters of the dogs that qualify enter. And between 32% and 47% of those who enter become qualifiers.

PROs & AMs

We also took a look at Amateurs and Professionals in terms of percentage of entrants and percentage whose dogs became qualifiers.

Over the past four years, Amateur-handled dogs have made up about a third of the entrants and Pro-handled dogs two-thirds. On average, about 38% of amateur-handled dogs that are entered become qualifiers and 45% of pro-handled dogs become qualifiers.

There were 121 people handling the 235 dogs who became qualifiers (on average 1.9 dogs per handler). Of these handlers:

  • 60% (121) of the handlers are amateurs; 40% are professionals
  • 72% (87) of the handlers are men and 28% (34) of the handlers are women
  • Most (84%) of the professional handlers are men as are most (64%) of the amateur handlers

THE DOGS

  • 825 qualified
  • 573 entered (69% of those qualified, net of scratches)
  • 235 qualifiers (41% of those entered)
  • 53% of those entered are male; 41% of those entered became qualifiers

HOW THE ANALYSIS WAS CREATED
To create the analysis in this report, we used material from the Master National website concerning dogs entered by flight. Information about dog breed, sex and age was derived using the Retriever Results database. Handler status was developed through a variety of sources including internet sources and information from subscribers to Retriever Results newsletters.

You are receiving this email because you registered with RetrieverResults.com, expressed interest in the web site or your dog placed in a recent trial.  If you no longer wish to receive this email, unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of the page.  This will not affect any account you may have with RetrieverResults.com.

Data in RetrieverResults are drawn from print, telephonic and electronic sources we believe to be reliable.  When the source material lists two handlers, we generally take the first one unless we have direct knowledge of who handled the dog. To correct any errors or omissions, please use the feedback link on the website or send an email to feedback@retrieverresults.com.
