In England, they start them young. Ellie Close, aged four, is the youngest qualifier for the World Series Gundog Junior Handling Championship. On occasion, Ellie has even beaten her father, who runs a dog boarding and training business.
According to an article in The Telegraph, "The competitions re-enact a shoot day for the dog, which requires competitors to send the dog off using a whistle and have the dog bring back the game to hand."

While Retriever Results has several sources of placement and handler information, it's not the same as being there. So if we need to make corrections, please let us know!
At the end of the year, Retriever Results (along with co-sponsors Avery Sporting Dogs and Lucky Lab Pins) calculates the Retriever Results Handler awards.

 Get out the brooms, it's a sweep! Jason Baker handled dogs to all four placements in the Derby at Northeast Tennessee.
Congratulations to Harry Bennetts who with Ramblin Rose XI earned back-to-back Derby wins at Southern California and California South Coast Retriever Clubs.
And it's another double header for Bill & Micki Petrovish and FC-AFC-NAFTCH-FTCH Upon the Wings of an Answered Prayer at Lincoln Trail Retriever Club.
