| UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES | |
 Our dogs are good at finding things, like birds and tennis balls. But they are also good at finding things that can hurt them. A new type of rodenticide contains bromethalin, a toxin that affects the central nervous system and causes brain swelling.
Designed to reduce the health risks to children, pets and wildlife, these products are fast acting and to date have no antidote. (Dogs that ingest d-Con can be treated with Vitamin K.)
If you do need to control rats and mice, be sure to put the poison inside a tamper-proof bait station.
