SWITCHING FROM PUPPY TO ADULT FOOD
When do you switch a puppy to adult food? The accepted wisdom has long been that the right time was when the pup reached six months of age. As Brian Lynn reports on the Paw Print Genetics website, "puppy-formula foods have become better -- safer -- for developing dogs."
Purina's research has found that "a puppy requires up to twice the amount of most nutrients than an adult dog" and that you should feed puppy food for the first year. |
SNAKEBITE! | |
| Click on image for larger view. |
If your dog has been bitten by a snake, take them and the snake immediately to your vet so they can identify the kind of anti-venom to give. Survival rates are generally high with around 90% of pets expected to survive assuming they receive the correct treatment.
This terrific poster put together by Murdoch University in Australia includes ways to reduce the risk, helps you recognize the signs and provides information on the steps your vet will take.
The AKC website has also put together information to help you become more "snake-smart." The article includes photos of dangerous snakes, a list of symptoms, and ideas on prevention. |
TAKE RETRIEVER RESULTS ON THE ROAD!
For the time being, there's no need to sign in. And, there are feedback links on nearly every page, so feel free to let us know what you think.
