122 QUALIFIED!
Congratulations to the 122 dogs that have qualified so far for the 2014 National Amateur to be held in Roseburg, Oregon starting June 15.

We'll post updates to this special report between now and the National Amateur. For more information about the qualifiers as well as thousands of other dogs that compete in AKC Field Trials and Hunting Tests, visit Retriever Results.

Here's a report on all the qualified dogs.
 THE DOGS
Of the 110 dogs qualified so far:
  • 95% Labrador Retrievers
  • 2% Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
  • 2% Golden Retrievers
  • 63% males
  • 37% females

So far, in terms of age:

  • So far, qualified dogs will be 7.0 years old on average, slightly older than at this point last year.
  • Qualified dogs are most likely to be either 6.6 or 7.0 or 7.4 years old.
  •  The median age (meaning half the dogs are older and half are younger) is again 7.2 years old.
  • For the second year in a row the oldest qualified dog will be 12.9 year old NFC-AFC Candlewood's Somethingroyal. The second oldest qualified dog is FC-AFC Black Magic's Woody Too at 11.6 years old.
  • The youngest qualified dog is 2.5 year old Cropper's Fire in the Hole

We also took a look at dogs in terms of the number of Amateur points they have accumulated to date:

  •  2 have more than 100 Amateur points (FC-AFC Great Bunns of Fire, FC-AFC Tealcreek Patton's Saber)
  • 17 have 50 - 99 Amateur points

 CLOSE BUT NO BONE (YET)!
Qualifying for any National takes a "blue plus two" and it tough to do. Here are some fun facts.

56 dogs have earned the win, but don't have the two points

  • 5 need half a point
  • 8 need 1 point
  • 4 need 1.5 points
  • 39 need two points

6 dogs have seven or more points, but are looking for a win
