MINIATURE POODLES | |
| A miniature poodle | Effective January 1, 2014, the types of dogs eligible to compete in AKC Retriever Hunting Tests has been expanded to include Miniature Poodles. These dogs measure from 10-15 inches at the shoulder.
According to the AKC, Poodles were originally bred to retrieve water fowl. As such they have webbed feet and a dense water repellent coat. In fact the name comes from the German word "pudel' which means to splash in the water.
Today Poodles are the 8th most popular breed in the US. Who knows? With this rule change perhaps we'll be seeing even more of them. |
