Vol. III, Issue - Special
May 8, 2013
Congratulations to the 120 dogs that have qualified so far for the 2013 National Amateur to be held in Mondovi, WI starting June 16. We've taken a look at these wonderful dogs and wanted to share what we see.

We'll post updates to this special report between now and the National Amateur, so stay tuned. For more information about the qualifiers as well as thousands of other competing dogs, visit RetrieverResults.com.

We've also prepared a separate report that shows details about the dogs qualified.
THE DOGS

The stats from the last report haven't changed much. Of the 120 qualified so far:

  • 97% Labrador Retrievers
  • 2% Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
  • 1% Golden Retrievers

  • 60% Males
  • 40% Females

We took a look at the qualified dogs' ages at the 2013 National Amateur.

  • On average, qualified dogs will be 7.2 years old, slightly older than at this point last year.
  • Qualified dogs are most likely to be about 5.1 years old, younger than last year
  • The median is 7.3 years of age (meaning half the dogs are older than 7.3 years and half are younger.)
  • The oldest qualified dog will be 11.9 years old (NFC-AFC Candlewood's Somethingroyal) and the youngest will be 3.0 years old (Dottie Ray's Blue 4 You)!

Then we looked at dogs in terms of their Amateur points accumulated to date.

  • 1 dog has 100 or more Amateur points
  • 16 dogs have 50-99.5 Amateur points
  • 18 have 10 or fewer Amateur points

And dogs in terms of their All-Age points accumulated to date.

  • 3 have more than 150 AA points
  • 9 have from 100 to 149.5 AA points
  • 38 have from 50 to 99.5 AA points

How about their titles?

  • 57% (68) are FC-AFCs
  • 23% (28) are AFC-onlys
  • 13% (15) are untitled
  • 3% (4) are FC-onlys
  • 3% (3) are either NAFC or NFC
CLOSE BUT NO BONE (YET)!
Qualifying for any National takes a "blue plus two" and is tough to do. Here are some fun facts:
  • Thirteen dogs have secured seven or more points, but need a win to qualify.
  • Eighty-five dogs have earned their blue ribbon but need points to qualify.
    • 6 dogs need just half a point
    • 15 dogs dogs need 1 point
    • 14 dogs need 1.5 points
    • 50 dogs need 2 points
