Pentimenti Gallery Opening Reception

FEBRUARY 7 - MARCH 22, 2014

OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, February 7, 6:00-8:30 pm

LISA STEFANELLI

The High Road

Paintings & Installation

Pentimenti Gallery is delighted to announce Lisa Stefanelli's first exhibition in Philadelphia, The High Road.  This exhibition will feature works which are like flowing linear shapes articulating a state of sustained exhilaration frozen in space, yet constantly moving. The underlying pursuit of Stefanelli's working practice is the possibility of being simultaneously involved and uninvolved in complexity.

RENE TREVINO

Centrifuge

Paintings

Through icons, images, and artifacts Trevińo explores his own identity as an under-represented minority in a post-Warhol society.  The role of icons, the weight of history, and the evanescent influence of religious artifacts are all fair game for his contemplative subject matter.

Wedge + Fig Ongoing Art Exhibit

Brette Husar

January - March 2014

From the ordinary to the sublime, Brette turns her photographer's eye on everything she sees, always searching for the perfect shot. And while the majesty of the Andean peaks that nestle Machu Picchu amaze her, the textures and colors of a pineapple on the kitchen counter are just as inspiring. Brightly colored subjects draw her eye and beg for a shot from an unusual angle or a cockeyed perspective.

Come meet Brette and see her remarkable photographs at Wedge + Fig on Wednesday, February 19th, 6-8pm.  Wine, cheese and good conversation will be on hand for everyone.

Moto Designshop to Design Permanent Housing for Christ Church Great Bell

Moto Designshop has been selected to design new, permanent housing and display for the historic Great Bell housed at Christ Church in Philadelphia, PA.

The Great Bell predates the Liberty Bell by fifty years and may prove to be the earliest surviving bell in North America. Metallurgical experts have concluded that, unlike the Liberty Bell, Christ Church's 1702 bell can be safely rung.

The project includes placing the Great Bell in the Church's flowering north garden, a space tended by the parish as a sacred and community space.  The modest and constrained space is inspired by the Bell's potential to have context and continuity with the many visitors that will gaze upon it. This context is created by keeping the bell at eye level. It is context created by not just seeing the bell - at a distance or as a museum artifact - but rather experiencing the bell in all of its detail, character and patina. It is context created by the stories that surround the bell in written word, and those spoken by its passionate guides. It is context created by allowing the bell to be a tangible and approachable record of history.

Construction is due for completion in time for the Great Bell's dedication Fall 2014.  Project images and video can be found at http://www.motodesignshop.com/#work/TheGreatBell1702.html
