Vancouver Yoga Center Newsletter

Time keeps whisking by. Hard to believe it's been about 9 months since the last newsletter. I have every intention of keeping connected with the change of the seasons. Then I look up from the project I have been immersed in to find all this time has gone by.

The last project was the Teacher Training and Immersion programs. I have to say this group was so much fun. They were engaged in the reading material and discussions. Open to my yoga nerd rantings about the subtleties of alignment of the body, and showed up ready for well...whatever was in store for them each month. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and formed deeper friendships. I am so happy to send these bright lights out into the world to share with others. Truly the best reward for a teacher.

A few of our graduate teachers are going to jump in and practice their new skills. They will be offering a discounted community yoga class on Monday nights 7:15-8:30pm. All levels welcome. This class will be $5 drop-in and we are encouraging feedback from you for these new teachers to help them grow.

I have been keeping busy with transitioning a part of my massage practice into Structural Integration work. This work is so rewarding. It's exciting to see changes so quickly in people's bodies and inspiring to see how this type of bodywork tends to shift them on a mental/emotional level. I hope to have some before and after pictures of a few willing clients for you all later this year.

For me for the summer, it is about more yoga, more resting, gardening, learning to mountain bike, taking the Scamp camper out on NW explorations, farmers markets, foraging for wild edible plants, playing with the pups. That's a full schedule :)

For the fall I am gearing up for another Teacher Training and Immersion program. Get your name on the list before August 1st if you have an interest in one of these programs.

I am also looking at rearranging my teaching and massage schedule a bit to enable me to have one more day off a week. This day off will be devoted to continuing to work on my Yoga Therapy book. I made headway with the writting a while back, but then had to put it down to complete my Structural Integration training and the last Teachers/Immersion program. I have been itching to start in on it again. The time away from writing ultimately was a blessing because in my Structural Integration training, I have developed new lenses in which I seeYoga's roll in helping restructure alignment and attain health. Wish me luck and I hope I have some tidbits from the book to share with you later this year.

And one last thing. Please please PLEASE click this link and offer your feedback about the classes you take at the studio. It's short, I promise!! These simple questions can help us know what makes YOU tick with yoga and I would greatly value your feedback on how we can make the studio better.

Wishing you all, the brightest NW Summer!

Melonie

Many Blessings from the rest of the teaching team:

Tish, Lauren, Lindsey, Sara, Karen & Matt
