Vancouver Yoga Center Newsletter

Greetings!

Holidays are over and i hope you all had a wonderful and joy filled season. As many of you know i took some time off during the holidays to continue writing the book on Yoga Therapy. I am happy to say i got a huge chunk done on it, though i still have lots more to go. I even handed a big section of it off to a illustrator to start on the drawings.

I have high hopes i will have most of it done by summer. Fingers crossed!

Aside from that i came back from vacation creatively on fire. We are revamping our website and it is coming along nicely. I hope to have it finished by mid February. I also came up with some fun Yoga T-shirt designs and hope to have those ready and available by the end of March. I'm strongly encouraging Dr Zorn to put his philosophical journal writings into a book and I'm happy to say that he is in the process of that. Lots to look forward to.

We currently are drawing towards the end of this current yoga teacher training. It has been such a great group of people that are very dedicated and have dove in with much enthusiasm to all aspects of yoga. I'm proud and happy to see this group graduating next month!

The first group of Yoga Structural Therapy trainees graduated at the end of last year and the program got rave reviews from the students. It by far, is the most fun training for me to teach. Its where i can really geek out on the body with others who geek out on it to :)

I am taking time to finish some of these projects I've started and I will plan on offering the yoga teacher training and yoga therapy training again this fall for those who are interested.

Dr. Zorn is offering his Dharma talks and meditations the first Sunday of every month. I highly encourage you to immerse yourself in these special workshops.  We are starting to form a nice group of dedicated students who also bring their own presence and wisdom to the group. I hope you enjoy Dr. Zorn's writings on Surrender for this months newsletter. He will be talking more about Surrender and Love this next upcoming Meditation.

Enjoy the lovely winter we are having and i will see you all in class soon,

Surrendering to Love
By Matthew Zorn

Surrender is a difficult process to undergo because most times we misunderstand it. Many people equate surrender with giving up, losing, or subjugation. This definition applies to situations that are worldly and transient by nature. This definition also involves the concept of 'me' and 'another'. This leads to a sense of resistance to the process of surrender. However, the process and desire to surrender to your higher nature has more to do with accepting everything as it is, perceiving your Self as it is, and reclaiming what is rightfully yours. Surrender is coming to a place in your life where your consciousness has been developed to the point where you choose the Life principle (Love) over your mortal vessel and your emotional attachments..........
