Bethesda Butler Hospital announces $25 million expansion
The expansion will create up to 50 new positions and 38 new beds
Bethesda Butler Hospital, part of the TriHealth network, has broken ground on a 45,000 sq. ft. inpatient building on their campus in Hamilton Enterprise Park. The facility currently has 10 beds and, once the expansion is completed, Bethesda Butler Hospital will have 48 total beds. The project is expected to be completed in December 2015 and will create up to 50 new jobs, mostly in the nursing profession.
TriHealth purchased the property in 2012 and Bethesda Butler Hospital has been growing ever since. The hospital added an emergency room in 2013 and currently employs 245 people. For more information, please read the Cincinnati Business Courier article here.

Community First Solutions announces plans for a $12 million medical facility
Facility will be a 42 bed surgery rehabilitation center
Community First Solutions will build a 42,000 sq. ft. rehabilitation center at Main Street and Stahlheber Road. Overnight and same-day services will be offered for post-surgery patients in a "resort-like" setting, according to a Journal-News article about the development. The facility will be Community First Solution's largest single capital project in over twenty years.
Community First Solutions is the parent company of four nonprofit organizations that reach more than 45,000 people of all ages in Butler, Hamilton, Montgomery, and Warren counties. The company is Hamilton's second largest private employer with over 650 employees.

Interstate Warehousing expanding at Hamilton facility
Company plans $3.1 million in upgrades and 25 new jobs
Interstate Warehousing, a cold storage warehousing company with eight locations around the country, has announced expansion plans in Hamilton. The expansion includes 25 new jobs with a payroll of $900,000 and $3.1 million in new capital investment. Interstate Warehousing currently employs 186 people at its Hamilton facility, which is located at 110 Distribution Drive.
Interstate Warehousing was established in 1994 in Ohio and is one of the top 10 cold storage warehousing companies in the U.S. This is not the first time Interstate Warehousing has expanded at its Hamilton facility. During an expansion in 2011, the company pledged to create 25 new positions and actually created 90. The 2014 improvements will position the company for future expansions at the site.

Biztech is now The Hamilton Mill
Name change symbolic of the new direction business incubator is heading
Hamilton's business incubator will now be called The Hamilton Mill and its goal and mission will be to serve as a resource for the entrepreneurial community, particularly in the area of renewable energy, clean energy, water technology, and digital technology. This focus leverages the local and regional efforts from the city of Hamilton in the area of renewable energy initiatives and the other "green" efforts going on throughout the Southwestern Ohio region.

Artspace Hamilton celebrates groundbreaking
The renovation is expected to be complete by early 2015
Artspace Hamilton celebrated its May groundbreaking with a community ceremony hosted at the Mercantile Lofts, located adjacent to the new apartment project. Artspace Hamilton will be located in the Mehrum-Lindley Block on High Street and will include 42 affordable live/work spaces for artists and 3,000 sq. ft. of commercial and gallery space. Hamilton's electric utility recognized for its reliability
Only 94 systems out of more than 2,000 municipal electric systems received the designation
The American Public Power Association (APPA) recently announced that the City of Hamilton Electric Department has qualified for the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3�) Platinum Designation. Hamilton is one of only 94 municipal electric systems out of more than 2,000 across the United States to receive this certification. This marks the ninth straight year the City has received the RP3� Platinum Designation.
The RP3� Platinum Designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electric service. According to the APPA, public utilities receiving the RP3� Platinum Designation exemplify the highest standard of utility operations, and are leading the way in providing reliable and safe electric service to their communities.

Sara's House opens on High Street
Home decor shop specializes in repurposed, restored, original, and unique goods
The Hamilton CORE Fund, which purchased the building at 254 High Street in late 2013, completed installing a new roof and renovating the first floor retail space, and Sara's House opened in the building this May. In an interview with Cincy Chic, Sara Vallandingham, owner of Sara's House, explained why the building was a good fit for her business. "Moving into a city that is focused on restoration and a building with incredible character works so well with the inspiration that drives our business."

Hamilton Land Bank completed 131 demolitions in Round 1 of funding
Hamilton and Middletown have received Round 2 funding through September 2014
Since the beginning of the land bank program in March 2012, Hamilton's land bank has demolished 131 properties and utilized $839,623.16 in funding from the State of Ohio's Moving Ohio Forward program. The Moving Ohio Forward program funds come from a settlement between the State of Ohio and five of the nation's largest mortgage services over foreclosure abuses, fraud, and unfair and deceptive mortgage practices.
Prior to the Moving Ohio Forward program, the City of Hamilton was averaging approximately 10 demolitions per year. The City of Hamilton received Moving Ohio Forward Round 2 funding through September 31, 2014 and has $139,000 to share with the City of Middletown. Hamilton is actively seeking additional funding to continue the Land Bank beyond September.

Construction on Hamilton's East High Gateway set to start June 23rd
The East High Gateway project will improve traffic flow and aesthetics along one of Hamilton's busiest thoroughfares
The East High Gateway project is an $8.5 million improvement project for one of Hamilton's most important entryways. The enhancements include adding new streetscape features, undergrounding utilities, and constructing new turn lanes.
To make these improvements, lane closures will be in effect throughout the next 12 months. A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained throughout the day. Some night time construction will require High Street to be reduced to one lane with flagging operation. Significant delays are expected. Alternate routes via Heaton Street, Dayton Street and Maple Avenue are strongly encouraged. Follow @EastHighGateway on twitter for project updates. RiversEdge Concert Series underway
Concerts will be held throughout the summer at RiversEdge Amphitheater
90 Proof Twang and Little Texas opened the RiversEdge Concert Series with an exciting concert on May 29th and SOHIO and The Revivalists drew thousands of people into downtown Hamilton on June 12th. Hamilton Joes baseball season
The Hamilton Joes play at Foundation Field all summer
The Hamilton Joes are a college summer league baseball team part of the Great Lakes Summer League that play their home games at Foundation Field at 1140 South Front Street in Hamilton.
