North Kitsap Trail Study
A public meeting for the NK Trail Feasibility Study is scheduled for this Thu. May 28, 6-8 PM at the Fire Station on 26642 Miller Bay Road in Kingston.

NKTA leaders have been working with County Public Works staff and a consultant team of landscape architects, engineers and wetland biologists to determine the best route for the Sound to Olympics (STO) Trail between Miller Bay Road (across from the North Kitsap Heritage Park) and Port Gamble-Suquamish Road. This critical link will serve a host of different types of different types of trials users by connecting Kingston to Port Gamble and ultimately Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island. The route has been researched to provide the best trail experience, environmental sensitivity and construction cost. It's been a fantastic team effort. Come see and comment on the ideas we've come up with.
Save Grovers Creek Preserve
Help Save this critical trail and wildlife corridor by contributing to the Grovers Creek Campaign in May.
This preserve preserves a key section of the Sound to Olympics trail identified in the North Kitsap Feasibility Study. In 2014 donors helped raise funds to purchase the first 500 acres of forest and beach on Port Gamble Bay, preserving the property's rich ecosystems and well-loved nature trails. We then purchased a nearly 400-acre expansion to North Kitsap Heritage Park.
Now, with your help, we can protect 270 more acres in the heart of our project. Grovers Creek Preserve is the jewel at the center of the Kitsap Forest and Bay Project - a place of old growth trees and a vital link in the Sound to Olympics Trail.

We've raised more than $1.8 million toward this purchase. Now we need YOUR help to raise the last $25,000 by the end of May! With your help we can protect this beautiful place at the center of the Kitsap Forest and Bay Project. Please watch the great video, learn more about the project and contribute.
State honors Park Volunteers for environmental stewardship!
Kitsap County's Heritage Park Stewardship program earned a Washington Recreation and Park Association award for Environmental Stewardship. In an email to Heritage Park Stewardship volunteers announcing the award, Lori Raymaker, Park Stewardship Coordinator, thanked volunteers:
"You are all a huge part of this award, because without you, this program and our parks as we know them, would not exist. As a park staff person, and a citizen of Kitsap County, I cannot thank you enough for all that you do!!"
NKTA would like to echo Lori's heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who give their time, heart and enthusiasm to the parks and trails that our community enjoys.
Thanks to all that donated to NKTA via Great Give!
Thanks to our generous donors during the Great Give, NKTA raised over $3750! The tremendous effort by the Kitsap Community Foundation and all the great sponsors resulted in raising over $1 million for Kitsap County non-profits.
