 From the Office
Dear Parents,

Since we will not be publishing a Peek next week, we would like to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday! As a school, we are so very thankful for the wonderful support each of us receives from the parent, neighborhood, and town community and from our PTA.  We are honored to work in partnership with each of you to give each student a top quality educational experience here at Riverside.

Please note that for the next few school days there will be a table in the front hall with lost and found items. Please have your child stop by to find items they may have lost.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Christopher Weiss
Principal

DESIGN, BUILD, INVENT!
binary-beams-abstract.jpg
Attention all 3rd-5th graders! Our first Innovation Space Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, December 3rd.  The Innovation Space will give students the opportunity to design, build and invent through hands on activities and exploration. We have many great tools and materials today and are planning more exciting additions in the future.

Look for an email containing the registration form Monday, November 23rd at approximately 9am.  Can't make it December 3rd?  Click here for more information and the full schedule.
DLE Tips and Information
This week the district emailed out a DLE Update from the regarding iPads coming home and how the internet is filtered on the iPads. If you did not receive it, please find it here.

The highlights:  iPads for grades 2 to 5 will be ready to come home at the end of November after all digital citizenship courses are completed, apps are loaded and internet filtering is ready for iPads to connect to the internet outside of school.  Internet filtering is already in place for iPads connected at school.  iPads will not be sent home for Kindergarten and 1st grade per district policy.

HOLIDAY SING
penguin holiday sing
Please join us for Riverside's Annual Holiday Sing! Ms. Punchatz will lead students and parents in a fun-filled sing along of many holiday favorites! A great way to get into the holiday spirit!

It will be held Friday, December 4th at 3:15 in the gym.
RIVERSIDE RHYTHMS SERIES
The Riverside Rhythms Series welcomed the Triad Brass Group to perform for all students during their lunch periods in the cafe on Tuesday. The group included musicians playing a tuba, saxophone, trumpet, electric guitar and drums.  They played popular songs including Happy, Fancy and All About The Bass, which all featured amazing spotlights on the talented brass musicians.  The band had great energy and the children really responded to them.

The Riverside Rhythms concerts are funded through your participation in our school PTA.
GARDEN NEWS
The garden has been cleared out and all the stems have been added to our new composter, purchased with the proceeds from our herbs and veggie sale last month. Looking forward to having some good healthy soil to add to the beds in the spring.

Mrs. Crawford's class planted some kale and celery, and soon will add turnips. These plants will all be covered by a special garden quilt to protect them from frost. Mrs. Crettol's class planted acorns and hopes to have some young oak tree seedlings to transplant in the spring. Her class tucked them in with leaves, just as they'd be protected in nature.

In the spring we will work with the classes to plant some more veggies and herbs, hopefully increasing the involvement of the students!
RIVERSIDE STUDENT COUNCIL
Riverside Student Council collected canned food for the local organization Neighbor to Neighbor. About 50 crates were filled to help our neighbors in the Greenwich community--in time for a Happy Thanksgiving. Well done!
PTAC PARENTING WORKSHOP
