Last Day of School is an Early Release Day

Our last day of school (Thursday) is an early release day. Please remember that all students will eat lunch that day, so please plan accordingly.

5th grade Parents

You should have received tickets to the Recognition Ceremony for 5th grade students held on Thursday at EMS. If you did not receive them, please contact the office.

Important one question survey

A one question survey on Feedback about your child's progress at school will be emailed to you today by ParentLink.  Please respond to the survey by Tuesday evening (it should only take 1-2 minutes) so that the school has an accurate result. Thank you.

Update on playground and trees

We have had many of the trees in the back of our property trimmed over the past week by the tree division of the town. The broken items from the playground are scheduled to be cleaned up by DPW this weekend. We are working with the GPS facilities department and the town to plan the process of restoring the playground for full use before the start of the new school year.  I will be in close contact with all the departments involved to move the process along as fast as possible.

Flag Day Celebration Monday at 8:45 AM

On Monday at 8:45 am we will celebrate Flag Day in the front of the school (held in the gym if raining).  Our chorus and band students will be sharing their talents with us. We will also take this opportunity to thank Mrs. J, our art teacher, for her dedication to Riverside and congratulate her on her retirement.

Pick-up Reminder

Please remember, no one is to back up in our drop-off/pick-up loop and you are only allowed to have children enter cars from the very edge of the sidewalk side of the loop. Never back up or pick up children from the driving lane (or cross the driveway except at the crosswalk). Also remember you must stay in your car at all times in the pick-up lane. If you need to get out of your car, you must park in the parking lot. Thank you.

ATTENTION BAND STUDENTS

All third grade students who would like to participate in the band program for the 2015-16 school year need to return their sign up forms to Mr. Arezzini by Monday, June 15. Without an accurate count of new students, there may a delay in the start of lessons in September. The protocol for new recruits is that they rent/purchase an instrument before the beginning of the fall semester. This will help to ensure that they have a quality instrument to use as a beginning band student.

Thank you very much!
 Mr. Arezzini

Cleat Drive

The 5th Grade Community Service Project of assisting with the cleat drive was a big success.  The Class of 2015 met on Friday to re-lace 160 pairs of cleats.

These will be sent to Venezuela over the summer!

Thank you!!!!

How does our garden grow?

Thank you to all who have already signed up to help! We still have a few open weeks.

HELP OUR GARDEN GROW!

We need your help to maintain our garden over the summer.
If you wished you had your own vegetable garden, this is a great opportunity to "borrow" ours! Sign up for one week over the summer and get full access to the garden and all of its fruits. Weed, water (if necessary) and take home the harvest! Instructions are included on the sign up sheet, and master gardeners are standing by to offer advice or assistance. If you have any questions at all, please email Gina at [email protected]

Please find sign-up here:

Safety...we STILL need your help!!!

car safety

We still need volunteers for our Safety Committee.  There is an on-line
sign-up allowing parents to volunteer only here and there and not have to commit to the whole year, much like lunch duty. A Safety Shift starts when the front doors open at 8:30a and ends when the bell rings at 8:45a. It's very easy and takes very little time, but helps to keep the kids safe.

Please consider helping us with this important job of keeping all the children safe.
