DAK Americas is one of the largest integrated producers of PET resins in the world and the main producer of polyester staple fibers in the Americas. DAK Americas is headquartered in Charlotte, NC, and is wholly owned by Alfa S.A.B. de C.V. of Monterrey, Mexico..

Local media is reporting that Duro Textiles is closing its operation in Fall River, MA. Read the press release here...
AKC Note:  Duro is one of the largest dyers, printers and finishers of fabric in the US. A large part of their business has been into military end uses and following the decline in the domestic military activity Duro had some success with supplying overseas military requirements, but based on this new report it seems there was not enough volume to sustain the business. The loss of Duro will impact a number of US companies who partnered with them in military and performance fabrics markets. There had been suggestions that a buyer for the business was seriously interested, but based on this report it seems that negotiations were not successful.
