The following links provide information about 2 new investments in the Carolinas which have fiber/textile implications:

1)    Richelieu Legwear of Canada expanding in North Carolina with a $16 million investment expected to create over 200 jobs. The Richelieu Group purchased International Legwear Group in Burke County in 2011 and saved them from bankruptcy. The turnaround in the company's fortunes has been remarkable and this new investment is a major statement of future intent. Richelieu Legwear is a major supplier of socks to Wal Mart and we wonder if the Wal Mart "Buy America" initiative has been a driver of this investment.

2)    Giti Tire announces a green field tire plant in South Carolina with a $560 million investment expected to create 1700 jobs over 10 years. Giti is based in Singapore with its main plants in China. They had total sales of $2.7 billion in 2012 of which $430 million were in the U.S.

AKC Note: Manufacturing investment in textile related products is continuing at a remarkably high rate bringing unexpected optimism to our industry.
