Denied Entry to the UK, an Afghan Interpreter Gets Shot by The Taliban
|
Some people call such interpreters heroes. Others call them traitors. The bottom line is that to interpret for an occupying force is life-threatening work.
One 26-year-old Afghan had interpreted for UK combat forces but the UK denied him asylum. Recently the Taliban tried to murder him: they shot him in the leg but he escaped. His infant son was also wounded.
He reports, I have seen British soldiers die in front of me and I have collected soldiers' remains - now I think I am being abandoned. A harrowing story .
