Fifty years ago, partners Bill Messerli and Tom Roe founded their own law firm after serving in the military together. The law firm went by various iterations of partner names over the years, but the owners finally settled on Messerli & Kramer

What hasn't changed is a fiercely independent culture with local ownership that encourages expansion of new practices and grooming of new leaders.

Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation Announces 2015 H.E.R.B.I.E. Award Winners

The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation announced today its selection of Mike Newman, Vice President of the Travelers Foundation and Director of Community Relations, and Xcel Energy as recipients of the 2015 H.E.R.B.I.E award. Chamber Testifies Before Senate Committee
On Monday, Chamber president Matt Kramer testified before the Senate transportation and public safety committee in support of proposed legislation that would make important capital investments in the Kellogg-Third Street bridge in downtown Saint Paul. The legislation, SF 1234, would provide for the sale and issuance of bonds to finance the reconstruction of this critically important bridge serving as a gateway into downtown. The legislation has been referred to the Senate capital investment committee.

Chamber PAC Holds Spring Fundraiser
Yesterday, the Chamber's political action committee held a widely-attended fundraiser at CHS Field in downtown Saint Paul. The PAC is a non-partisan, independently governed association that raises money to support candidates that support pro-business public policies. This year, the PAC is currently screening candidates for endorsement in important local elections, including the Saint Paul City Council. The PAC has not yet made its endorsement decisions at this time.

Drake Bank's Jay Pfaender Named to World's Fair Bid Committee

Drake Bank is honored that Jay Pfaender, Vice President at Drake Bank, has been named to the Committee for preparing a bid for the 2023 World's Fair in Saint Paul. In addition to Jay Pfaender, the committee consists of Marilyn Carlson Nelson, Lou Frillman, Bonnie Carlson, Sharon Fong, Mark Richie, and Louis Quam.

 

Ecolab Partners with Project WET Foundation

Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has launched its Clean and Conserve Education Program to educate students about the importance of water conservation and hygiene. Developed in partnership with the Project WET Foundation, a nonprofit water resources education organization, the interactive curriculum is expected to reach two million people in the United States, Mexico, China and Germany by the end of 2017. Xcel Energy Named in Top 100 Most Trust-Worth Companies by Forbes
Xcel Energy was recently ranked among the top 100 most trust-worthy companies in the country and is one of only three investor owned utilities to make the list. Forbes Magazine compiles the list based on research that looks at how companies demonstrate solid corporate governance and transparent accounting practices.

Saint Paul Student Receive 2015 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarships

The Comcast Foundation announced that Saint Paul residents Ruth Jiang, John Proper, Keria Tahir, Nina Thao and Maricella Xiong have been named 2015 recipients of the foundation's annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The Comcast Foundation was started in 1999 to provide charitable support to local communities and to empower and enrich lives across the country.
