The Chakra System Unveiled

This two-part workshop on the chakra system offers a rich compilation of information distilled from a wide range of sources historically rooted in the ancient traditions of Yoga and Tantra. Each of the seven main energy centers will be examined in detail with reference to energetic anatomy and corresponding physical, psychological, and transpersonal attributes. Our exploration of the chakra system will extend to subtle-body theory and will be augmented by yoga postures, breathwork, and meditation, all of which help to support or restore the healthy function of the chakras and the subtle-to-physical-body network. Participants will be provided with a packet detailing chakra information for easy reference and additional printed handouts. Thai Yoga is the practice of connecting to others and the world around you. As you each focus on our experience, you enhance the other. Both people participating will experience energy, strength and relaxation.  The workshop is held in a comfortable, safe, compassionate setting and the practice is performed on a mat on the floor. Both giver and receiver are dressed in comfortable clothing, allowing for ease of movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used. EVERYBODY is welcome - no matter your size, shape, age, ability, or  condition. This special class is tailored to meet YOUR individual needs, making the practice accessible to everyone and EVERY body.
 

Safety is always our first priority and our approach is compassionate and non-judging. We move slowly and use an assortment of props, including chairs, straps, yoga blocks, bolsters, and even our walls to make classic yoga postures doable and accessible to everyone -- including plus-size yoga practitioners, those who have limited mobility, those who have difficulty getting up and down off the floor.  We discreetly offer options and modifications throughout each class and gently encourage you to "do what you can do."    

 

This is also an enjoyable class for those who would like to experience postures and their practice in a whole new way.  It helps all people to breathe better, enjoy the movement of their bodies, and reap the numerous benefits of an on-going yoga practice. Thrive in your own experience as you reach for new goals in this easygoing, individualized class

 

YOGA BASICS with CORE STRENGTHENING  (ALL)

This class is designed to develop the foundations of a structurally sound yoga practice. Learn how to deepen your practice through alignment focused postures which is important for injury prevention.  Additional emphasis is placed on engaging and strengthening the core, using mostly floor/mat based work. A strong core is essential for a healthy spine... and is not only beneficial to your yoga practice, but also for other sports and activities as well.

Yoga Basics classes help students proceed intelligently toward more advanced postures as well as prepare them for faster-paced Flow classes (great segway into more challenging classes).  This class is i
deal for any student that wants to gain a better understanding of the postures and the practice, including experienced students. (Experienced students are welcome and encouraged to practice at their own level.)
