Trainers EDGE, July 19
The Trainer's EDGE uses contemporary training techniques and emphasizes the importance of experiential learning, or "learning by doing." Most of the sessions not only demonstrate good training methods, but also give participants a chance to interact and actually practice what they have learned. The purpose of the Trainer's EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. This course is intended to "train the trainer" on behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media. This conference is for Scouters who will be delivering training to adult leaders as well as to the young people in Scouting. ALL TRAINERS, including pack trainers, should participate in a trainer development conference. Click here to register

SHAC 14-2 - July 28 - August 2 (Monday to Saturday, week-long course) SHAC 14-3 - September 26-28 & October 24-26, 2014 SHAC 14-4 - October 16-18 & November 13-15, 2014 Recording Service Hours Has your unit served in a project to benefit others this year? Did you participate in Scouting for Food, or several other projects already in 2014? Chances are, the answer to this question is yes. Every unit does service whether they realize it or not, many of the awards and advancements the boys can earn have service built into them from the Wolf and Bear ranks all the way up to Life and Eagle. Many units do annual clean ups or service projects for their charter organization or the school that they are associated with. If your unit has performed a service project, make sure and enter that service into the Journey to Excellence tracker. It is important for all of our units to track their service so that as a Scouting movement we can report on our positive impact. Check these instructions how to enter your hours. Messengers of Peace
Messengers of Peace is a global initiative designed to inspire millions of young people to work toward peace. Scouts from around the world share what they've done and inspire fellow Scouts to undertake similar efforts in their own communities. Any project that has a significant impact on the community will qualify. Messengers of Peace projects include unit-level projects, William T. Hornaday Award, and Eagle Scout service projects-any projects undertaken within a Scouting context that impact peace. Your project qualifies if it meets this definition of peace. No one beyond the unit has to approve a project's Messengers of Peace status.
Report Messengers of Peace to the Journey to Excellence tracker as you would service projects. Any Scout or Scouter who participates in a qualifying project is eligible to wear a Messengers of Peace ring patch around the World Crest on his or her uniform. To purchase these ring patches, a unit representative should take the unit certificate to the local Scout shop or council service center. instructions

Tour Plans
The new online tour and activity plan has been developed and is active. Please go to www.myscouting.org. You do not need a tour plan for Council sponsored activities or camping at Council camps. For the Council's Guidelines on when to file a tour plan, Click Here.
If your unit is planning on hosting an event that requires certification (Shooting, Boating, Swimming, Climbing, etc.) you must provide certification information on your TOUR PLAN and present a copy of the certification to the Ranger / Campmaster before beginning the activity.
Enterprise Risk Management
In order to provide better care for its members and to assist them in better understanding their own physical capabilities, the Boy Scouts of America recommends that everyone who participates in a Scouting event have an annual medical evaluation by a certified and licensed health-care provider-a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Providing your medical information on this four-part form will help ensure you meet the minimum standards for participation in various activities. Note that unit leaders must always protect the privacy of unit participants by protecting their medical information more
