Greetings!

There were lots of smiles yesterday in the training classroom; on the faces of trainees and trainers.  We're so glad for your enthusiasm.  We thought the day went well and hope you did too.

There were some eyes glazing over however... Understandable! There was a TON of information thrown at you yesterday.  Certainly too much for you to remember. This is just the first time you will receive it, the first layer. Pretty soon, you will even hear it and it will start to sink in.
Your Class
Doctors, Lawyers, Swimmers, Runners, Fishers, Garden Birthers, Formula 1 enthusiasts, Mountain Bikers, Teachers, Artists, Therapists, Chefs, Actors, Writers, Animal Lovers, Scientists, Bridge Players, Photographers, Hot Potters, Law Enforcers, Firefighters, Vagabonds, Farmers, Nursery persons, Detassle-ers, Engineers, Cue Card Holder Uppers ...  It goes on and on.  What an interesting group of people.  Lucky for the Master Gardeners that you include gardening in your interests too. Thank you!

Wonderings
Who's in charge of the newsletter?
Judy MacKenzie, [email protected], 951-232-5099

Who updates and maintains the Training Website?
Byron Asakawa, [email protected]
Dawn Standke, [email protected]

Do I have adequate computer skills to be a Master Gardener?
Yes, maybe you just need a little help in the beginning. Please ask the Ops Team for some help.  We are all willing and able to get you up to snuff.  You can bring in your device (or use one of ours) and we would be happy to spend some time with you at break or lunch.  Another great source is your mentor.  Give them a call!

There was so much information!!
Yes, there was.  I promise it will make sense to you as time goes by.  There will be an AH HA moment!
Quizzes and Final
Just to summarize:
  • There will be a quiz on each chapter of the book that you are assigned.
  • The quizzes will be posted for two weeks, the week before and the week after the session that covers that chapter.
  • You may take each quiz twice.
  • You need a cumulative average 'grade' of 70%.
  • You should print the quiz and results as you get them.
  • You have your user name and password.
  • If there is problem with the quiz or the technology, please let us know.  There is a solution to anything.
  • The final will be a compilation of quiz questions.
Did you notice we have no control
over the temperature of the room?
Our best advice is to dress in layers.  I always have on several layers and a scarf and fan in my purse.

over parking?  It's a bear, that's for sure. Solutions?  Carpool, come earlier, look on the street, send productive and positive thoughts to the construction people building the new structure?

About the parking structure (thanks for Scott's phone calls and physical examination!):
Level 1 - 5You may park in any unmarked space.
Level 6
All the spaces are numbered. If these numbered spaces are outside of a designated area (areas are designated by movable signs) you may park there.
Level 7All the spaces are numbered and reserved.  If you can see the sky overhead, do NOT park there.
