Contributions or gifts (including membership dues) to CAHU are not tax deductible as charitable contributions. Pursuant to the Federal Reconciliation Act of 1993, association members may not deduct as ordinary and necessary business expenses, that portion of association dues dedicated to direct lobbying activities. Based upon the calculation required by law, 31% of the dues payment only should be treated as nondeductible by CAHU members. Check with your tax advisor for tax credit/deduction information.

Farewell for Now, Dear Friend
We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of a talented and respected colleague, Debbie Murdock of CCAHU, who left this world on January 28th. CAHU President Michael Lujan reflected that "'too young and still vibrant' was the sentiment shared at her memorial service" and shared how moved he was to see so many of Debbie's colleagues and friends join her devastated family to honor and remember her, and celebrate her legacy.
SAHU President Marcy McCulloch shared that she "had the pleasure of working with Debbie at Kaiser Permanente for 7 years. She was such a wonderful mentor! I will miss her cute laugh and beautiful smile."
Debbie will be truly missed not only by her warm and loving family, but by so many others whose lives she touched during her career, and as a very active member of her community.

Membership Contests
Win a $400 Cash Prize from NAHU!
All state chapters (with at least 15 members) are automatically entered. State chapters are divided into three categories:
- Group 1: 15-200 members
- Group 2: 201-399 members
- Group 3: 400+ members
The state chapters with the largest percentage increase in members renewing or joining and using a monthly credit card and/or bank draft for payment wins! Winners are determined by comparing the total number of members paying by draft starting from January 2016 to those paying by draft on April 30, 2016. Chapters must have at least a 5 member increase in draft payments in order to qualify. Winners will be announced during the award ceremony at the 2016 Annual Convention.
