Capitol Summit, held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento on May 19&20, included two full days of the latest information related to legislative changes within the health insurance industry. The purpose of this event is for CAHU members to educate elected officials on the importance of the role of the agent in protecting consumer health care choices.
Tuesday's line up included professional development sessions, CAHU's House of Delegates, and the CAHU PAC Fundraiser & Reception, honoring Past CAHU VP of Legislation Bill Robinson. On Wednesday, attendees heard first-hand from California legislators Assemblyman Rob Bonta, Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, and Senator Ed Hernandez, Chair of the Senate Health Committee - who both praised the role of the health insurance agent. CAHU VP of Legislation Dave Fear, Jr. and CAHU Legislative Advocate Michael Belote provided an overview of California health care legislation impacting the industry, which prepared attendees for their appointments with their local legislators.
