January 18 Luncheon with Tristan Rogers

Now this is the way to start the New Year: listen Tristan Rogers talk about his rise as one of soapdom's hunks and how he transitioned his career into the forefront of webcasts at the Jan. 18 luncheon meeting of the Palm Springs Women in Film and Television luncheon meeting at the Rockwood Grill at the JW Marriott Desert Springs resort in Palm Desert.

Rogers will talk about "The Adaptation of Tristan Rogers: Why talent trumps time" at the meeting that starts at 11:30 a.m.

The Australian-born actor is best known for his long runs as Robert Scorpio on "General Hospital" and Colin Atkinson on "The Young and the Restless," in addition his long list of credits in Australian and American TV series and films.

Rogers was an early adaptor when it came to using the as Web to grab viewers, beginning with two minute clips he produced to promote "General Hospital: Nightshift" series to "The Bay," a full-blown soap that has been at the forefront of using the Web as another outlet for new productions.

"Back in 2006, Tristan saw the potential of the web," said Angela Romeo at a recent PSWIFT holiday mixer.  "While that doesn't seem so long ago, it is.  He's going to talk to us about learning to adapt to new technology and how we can use it to our advantage."

Tickets for the lunch meeting are $25 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Reservations for the lunch should be made no later than Jan. 16 to Jade Flynn at 760-238-0306 or jadepswift@gmail.com.

The Rockwood Grill is at the JW Marriott Desert Springs resort at 74855 Country Club Drive in Palm Desert.
