Carl has been a long-time supporter of the Society of Vacuum Coaters, serving as Technical Director and Board Member since 2009 and has been involved with the TechCon Technical Program as a TAC Chair for many years.
As Managing Director at Star Science, a consulting company for coatings in industry, he works for Fortune 500 Companies looking at future products, business plans and patent positions. Carl also serves as an external proposal reviewer for the U.S. DOE, NSF and other agencies. Also, Carl serves as Editor-in-Chief of the refereed archival journal Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells and is Editor Emeritus for the Journal of Displays.
Carl received his doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, CA. He has three other degrees including Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics.
