Add Punch to Your PowerPoint Presentation with Multimedia
How Best To Make Video, Audio or Animation Part of Your Next Presentation
It's time for your Q3 sales report presentation. Instead of fighting for your audience's full attention, why not get everyone engaged in your message by including an animation, audio clip or video in your presentation? If you have a video of a customer praising the virtue of your new product rather than a basic bullet point, you can bet eyes will be on your screen instead of checking smartphones while you present.
Adding multimedia to your next PowerPoint presentation will communicate your material in an impactful and exciting way. In this blog, we look at the big three - video, audio and animation - and give you some best practice tips to bear in mind when using them. Read More

Improve Visual Consistency with Default Shapes and Text Boxes

Changing the DEFAULT SHAPE and TEXT BOX can save you a lot of time when preparing a new presentation.  Each time you create a new shape or text box, they will conform to your personalized fill color, line, text formatting and shape effects.  This helps you eliminate repeated formatting chores and improves visual consistency.
1. Add a rectangle shape and text box (you can find them on the HOME tab, DRAWING section).
2. Select the text box and change formatting for any of the following: fill color, line color and thickness, font type, font size, font color, etc. Right-clicking on the text box will present you with a menu. One of the options is FORMAT SHAPE, which reveals a large number of additional settings you can change.

3. Select the rectangle shape and change formatting for any of the following: fill color, line color and thickness, font type, font size, font color, etc.  Right-clicking on the shape will present you with a popup menu.  One of the options is FORMAT SHAPE, which reveals a large number of additional settings you can change.
4. Right-click on the text box and select "Set as Default Text Box" from the popup menu. Then right-click on the rectangle shape and select "Set as Default Shape" from the popup menu.
5. Any additional text boxes or shapes that you create from the HOME tab's DRAWING menu will take on the new defaults you have set. Additionally, shapes, even shapes that are not rectangular will conform to these new settings.
These settings are associated with the current presentation and need to be recreated if you start working in a new PowerPoint file.
