PowerPoint Stress Relief from eSlideIssue 43

"Now THAT'S a presentation! Great delivery,
great graphics, and he moonwalks from the room."
eSlide's Quick Tip of the Month
Easy Access to PowerPoint 2013's Selection Pane
It may take a few clicks to get to, but knowing where the Selection Pane is and how it works can save a lot of time, not to mention PowerPoint stress.
The Selection Pane displays a list of all the objects on your slide and how they're ordered or layered. You can custom name the objects in the list, show or hide them, and drag and drop to reorder them. This is very helpful when you have a crowded slide with lots of overlapping objects and need to select and modify an individual layer that's stacked underneath another layer. It's also where you can apply, modify, and preview special effects to individual items.
How do you get to the Selection Pane?
  • Select an object on your slide (we selected the picture below)
  • Select the FORMAT tab in the ribbon
  • Click on Selection Pane in the Arrange tools
  • The Selection Pane appears on the right hand side (we custom named the layers in the list)
