Happy Birthday Warrick County
200 years old April 1, 2013! |
Hello Everyone,
December is here and Newburgh Celebrates Christmas brings the magic to Newburgh. I hope you put this wonderful weekend into your schedule.
Due to the uncertainty with the weather, the Newburgh Museum Candles and Collections will not be held. However, all other events and activities will continue as planned.
Newburgh Celebrates Christmas is a way for us to support our businesses in the rain, the snow or when it is shining. Here is the inclement weather plan for the weekend.
Thank you Alcoa for donating a wonderful 21' Christmas Tree and volunteers to help with it's decorating. The lights will go up next week.
Saturday and Sunday, Museum is open, Trolley Tours will continue as planned, Photos with Santa will continue as planned and characters will be out caroling in their 1880's dress. Sunday night, the is the Castle Knight Sensations performance at Town Hall at 5:30 and the town tree lighting.
All of this continues as planned if there is a light snow. If it is raining, everything goes as planned except characters and musicians will not be out.
Buy your Santa Express Trolley tour tickets now.... $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child 4-12yrs. This is a great way to see Newburgh decked out at Christmas and learn a little about Christmases Past. Tours begin at Preservation Hall at 10 am Saturday morning.
Participate in Find the Elf contest and possibly win a Downtown Newburgh shopping spree. Sign up for one of the drawings of a wreath. Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus are in Town Hall Saturday 11-3 and Sunday 1-3 and don't have to be just for kids! Bring your pet or maybe it is just a picture of you.
After this weekend, this is break time for me. The next enewsletter will be January 3rd.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The statute that recognized the creation of Warrick County was enacted by the Indiana Territorial Legislation and became effective on April 1, 1813, a full decade after John Sprinkle became the first white settler in the area when he landed at Newburgh in 1803. WarrickCounty was carved out of the original Knox County, and was named after a close friend of General William H. Harrison, Capt. Jacob Warrick, who died during the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.
In commemoration of the Bicentennial of Warrick County, a group of representatives from the Newburgh Museum Foundation, Historic Newburgh, Inc., the Coal Mine Museum and the Warrick County Museum have formed a Steering Committee and plans are now underway for festivities throughout 2013 to celebrate the founding of Warrick County.
