Happy Thanksgiving
|
Hello everyone,
Family and friends will be visiting this Thanksgiving weekend. We hope you will include shopping and dining in Newburgh as a special outing.
When you are ready to relax.....shop Newburgh.
Please review the info about Newburgh Celebrates Christmas. It is the first weekend in December. You will want to carve out an hour to ride the trolley and listen to tales of Christmas Past. The sidewalks will be bustling with activity. There will be characters, musicians and carolers from the 1800's. It is great fun that you will not want to miss.
If you signed up for an energy assessment with Energizing IN and have not had your assessment yet, please use this link. You can set up your time and double the amount of money from $25 to $50 a house energy assessment that Historic Newburgh, Inc. would receive. We have already received $350.00.

Travel back to the late 1800s to see how citizens would have decorated their parlors, what toys were popular and to view vintage Santas, snowmen, ornaments and trees. Blessing of the Wreaths
On November 10, many of the Newburgh merchants celebrated the "Blessing of the Wreaths." Docia Peevler, owner of the Village Knitter, read a beautiful prayer to bless each of the specially created wreaths. The wreaths are displayed in each of the businesses and from now until December 2nd and customers may enter their names for a drawing.
At 5:00 on Sunday, December 2, the names of the winners will be announced. Before the official Town of Newburgh tree lighting, the wreaths will be presented to the winners. It is a wonderful tradition!

This is the Historic Newburgh, Inc. wreath that
features our 2012 Christmas Ornament. We
encourage you to come in and sign up for the
drawing. At the same time, check out the
Rivertown Art Gallery and our HNI Gift shop.

This just a reminder that we do have a wonderful bus service here in Warrick County. The WATS (Warrick Area Transit System) has a stop at Mother Teresa at Jennings and Frame, Preservation Hall at 200 State Street, and the Senior Center at the corner of 3rd and Jefferson. It will connect you to Boonville, Chandler and Evansville.
|
Connect with Southern Indiana is a great program that I participated in this past year. While the deadline for application has past, if your are still interested, give them a call. Hopefully they will be able to accomodate.
It is a great way to network regionally. Even though I have lived here all my life and am tuned into what is available in Southwestern IN, I learned a lot.
I also have developed some great friendships!
This is self-nominating so go to the Connect website for the application.

Historic Newburgh, Inc. is a non-profit, Main Street organization dedicated to historic preservation, economic revitalization and sustainability of Downtown Newburgh.
Thank you to all who support HNI!
I ask that if you are not a member of Historic Newburgh, Inc., you consider doing so. Our organization needs members to help with our administrative costs. Some of those costs that do not get rolled into event expenses include having our Historic Newburgh brochures distributed to Southern IN hotels, paying to be represented in regional tourism publications, the cost of using Constant Contact for our e-newsletter, gas & electric bills, rent, postage, and many other expenses that go into running an organization. |
