Fabian Morales, Sr. Convergence Engineer
With all of the extreme weather happening all over the country in recent weeks, I thought I would take this opportunity to provide a quick reminder and refresher on how to setup backups for your Avaya Communication Manager system. It's Official! Mitel and Aastra Complete Merger
Jessie Olson -Mitel Live -Posted 1/31/14
Back in November, we announced plans for Mitel and Aastra to merge. And while we were excited then, we're even more excited today. After all, there's nothing like the sweet satisfaction of actually completing the deal and seeing ink on paper. (And, yes, it's dry!)
What does the deal mean for our customers? For starters, it means that Mitel now has the comprehensive portfolio in the industry - digital, IP, and cloud-based communications systems; platforms, applications, and devices - serving every size organization from the very small to the largest of enterprises.
It also means that the new company, with its combined R&D of $100 million per year, has the resources to lead innovation efforts and support a broad range of global and regional communications solutions.

2014: New Year, New Passwords
Stefanie Hoffman, Fortinet
February 1st is National "Change Your Password Day." Well, maybe not, but it should be according to Gizmodo. And there are plenty of reasons why. Most people know they should apply unique passwords, replete with a complex mix of alphanumerics and symbols, to every account. And they also know they should change those passwords every few months. But let's face it. Most users also have a list of accounts the size of a small phone book. These days, you need a password to access just about any online service - airline tickets, banking, ordering Chinese takeout. Many of these accounts are for services that the user has accessed a handful of times, and unless they invest in multi-platform password managers or have a photographic memory, it's pretty hard to keep them all straight. In the spirit of the New Year, Gizmodo is suggesting users get the ball rolling on new password habits by changing their passwords every Feb. 1st - a kind of positive peer-pressure approach akin to holding hands and jumping into a swimming pool. It's a good start, but to truly reduce the risk of account compromise, users will have to apply a few other password best practices: Read more...

What is Unitrends Cloud Strategy?
Mark Campbell, Unitrends | Modern Backup 2 Blog
Two fish pass each other early one morning; one from the east and the other from the west. They fish going east asks the other "How's the water in the east?" The fish going west looks puzzled and responds "What's water?" The cloud is the water in which Unitrends operates - it's so ubiquitous that at times it's easy to take for granted. Unitrends cloud strategy is to enable you to simply, quickly, and reliably recovery your IT infrastructure - anywhere, anytime, anyplace. The implications of our cloud strategy are staggering. This means we start with protecting heterogeneous IT environments - not just virtual but physical, not just files but applications, not just data but systems. We protect VMware, Hyper-V, XenServer, P2P, P2V, V2P, V2V, dissimilar bare metal, Windows, Linux, pSeries/AIX, Solaris, iSeries, native Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Oracle, and so much more. And we offer this protection either via our all-in-one physical appliances or our software-only virtual appliances.
