"Glitchy Progams? Bits Can Really Bite"
David Flores, ConvergeSecure® CSU Engineer
David Flores

Knowing if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 can be beneficial when troubleshooting program issues. If a program is having issues installing or is "glitchy" after install, a quick troubleshooting step is to check if the program is compatible with the version of Windows 7 that you are running. This means checking to see whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7.

Most new programs are being written to take advantage of the capabilities of a 64-bit operating system, including running faster and making better use of your computers RAM (memory). This is especially evident in memory-intensive programs like Adobe Photoshop.

Thank You for Joining Us For
"Keys to IT Success" at Arlington Park
We want to take a moment to thank all of our partners and guests for making our annual event at Arlington the most successful yet!

As always, we welcome your feedback. We recognize how difficult it can be getting out of the office for an entire day, so please do not hesitate to let us know how we can make it an even more beneficial event for you and your organization.

A very special thank you Adam J. Glazer, Esq. a Partner at Schoenberg Finkel Newman & Rosenberg, LLC for his very informative keynote about Social Media and Governance.

Another big thank you to our IT Roundtable Experts. (L to R) Tom Drez (CIO and Managing Director of the Information & Technology Services Division at Christian Brothers Services), Greg Champlin (Information Technology Director at Urban Partnership Bank), and Timothy Hall (Chief of Information Technology at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP)

Between the Keynote and IT Roundtable guests had time to visit with our premier partners and get information about their solutions.

After the morning sessions everyone adjourned to the Executive Suites for lunch and an afternoon of horse racing.

As usual CCC sponsored the 5th race of the day so our "Winner's Circle" group was brought on a tour of the paddock before having their picture taken with the winning jockey.

On the trip back from the winner's circle some of our group got a sweet treat by feeding some of the horses their favorite peppermint candies. Pictured is CCC Technologies Revenue Protection Specialist, Helen Dsouza.

Last but certainly not least we want to extend a VERY special thank you to CCC Technologies Executive Administrative Assistant, Suzanne Brown, who works tirelessly behind the scenes every year to coordinate this event. THANKS SUZANNE!
CCC Gives Back with Project SEARCH
When CCC Technologies (namely Tim Blevons) was approached to donate some Avaya wireless phone equipment for St. Elizabeth's Project SEARCH program we were not only excited but very grateful to have been chosen to partner with Affinity Health System to help enrich this wonderful program.

Project SEARCH is a collaborative partnership between the Appleton Area School District, the Wisconsin Department Vocational Rehab, Valley Packaging, Community Care, and St. Elizabeth Hospital.

The Project SEARCH Program is a one-year internship program for students with significant intellectual and developmental disabilities, in their last year of high school and who have fulfilled their academic requirements for graduation. It is targeted for students whose goal is competitive employment. The program takes place at St. Elizabeth's where total immersion in the workplace facilitates the teaching and learning process as well as the acquisition of employability and marketable work skills.

Recently, Lynn Heid and Garry Reznic from CCC Technologies visited the facilities of Project SEARCH and met with some of the people that were instrumental in the programs early success.

A class of current students in the Project SEARCH Program

"As part of their team meeting, we talked about CCC and how generous you were in donating the phones to the progam," said Liz Rice Janzen, Grant & Research Specialist with St. Elizabeth's Hospital. "Their eyes lit up when they were told that you had given us the phones. One of the interns said "Really? They did that for us and they don't even know us. Wow!" And then they all started to talk about how cool it was."

"We were so honored to assist in the launch of Project SEARCH and were so thrilled to have the opportunity to see the program in action. We anticipate hearing even more great things as the school year progresses," said Lynn Heid, National Account Executive. "CCC Technologies has enjoyed a long-time partnership with Affinity Health System and when we heard this great story and interacted with the amazing people behind Project SEARCH we couldn't wait to do our part. We look forward to offering our continued support and sharing in the joy as students in Project SEARCH reach and exceed their goals."

CCC Associates Getting Settled in at New Wood Dale Facility
185 Hansen Court, Suite 100, Wood Dale, IL 60191
It has certainly been a busy few weeks here at CCC. We are very happy to share that we are officially moved into our new facility in Wood Dale. The facility is similar in overall square footage to our former home in Elk Grove Village but this facility, in addition to being built out to our specs, allows the entire team to be on a single level with a much larger Network Operations Center.

We look forward to sharing details for an upcoming open house very soon!

Cut Costs and Boost Technology, with Help from the Cloud *WHITE PAPER*
Shelley Flannery, Mitel
Mitel Logo Take a look at the current state of the cloud market and you'll see just how explosive it really is: Public cloud storage is expected to reach $12.2 billion by 2016; private cloud IT infrastructure is slated to top $22.2 billion by 2017; and public cloud IT infrastructure will grow to $21.2 billion by 2017.

Besides reflecting growth, what else do these figures have in common? They're all double the market size as of 2012.

This exponential demand has a lot of people questioning what's driving it, beyond the basics. Beyond wanting to achieve unprecedented communications, companies are rising to the cloud for a number of reasons. Among the more tactical motives for doing so are technology and finance priorities.

My Gmail Account Has Been Compromised. What Should I Do?
Michael Perna, Fortinet
Fortinet Logo ANSWER: Reset your password and security questions, run a  virus scan, and hope for the best.
Beyond the basics, there are a few more considerations when your Gmail (or any other account for that matter) has been breached.

Google offers two-factor authentication, enabling this should be one of your first steps. Two-factor authentication requires anyone logging into your account to not only know your username and password, but also retrieve a time sensitive token. This security token is usually a 5-digit number sent to your cell phone or secondary email address. Sending out a mass email warning your address book is always a good idea as well. A crafty hacker will try to get at your friends too.

Are CIOs Destined to Work for the CMO?
By Paul Rubens - October 7, 2013 - CIO.com
Managed Services
As marketing departments become more reliant on technology, a strong relationship with the CMO will be necessary for the survival of CIOs. In fact, don't be surprised to see CIOs playing a supporting role to the enterprise.

Within the next few years many CIOs will find that effectively they work for their chief marketing officer (CMO), and their IT department will have become little more than the technology arm of the marketing department.
