Ask the Expert "Mitel Beyond... Accessing Mitel MCD Controller in IE10"
Miki Blagojevic, Customer Support Engineer
Here at CCC Technologies we don't believe in "impossible," there is a solution to every issue. It is just a matter of examining all the variables and making adjustments until you find a fix (or at least a temporary workaround). One such challenge we recently encountered was accessing the Mitel MCD Controller after upgrading to Microsoft Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10. While it is always nice to keep up with changing technology to take advantage of the latest features and functionality, it is typical to discover (often too late) that this new technology doesn't always "play nice" with existing applications in your environment. When this occurs you have two options, roll back the new technology so that the existing applications work as needed, or, roll up your sleeves and figure out a way for the new and existing to work together. We always try to be Team Roll Up, not Team Roll Back. Read more...

CCC @ #CONVERGE2013 "UC and Buttons and Bears, Oh My!"
Response to CCC's inaugural sponsorship and booth at the 2013 International Avaya User Group (IAUG) conference that took place June 4-7 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando has been tremendous. CCC Team members Juan Rodriguez, Garry Reznic, Lynn Heid, Jennifer Theesfeld, Stacy Reidy, and Tim Blevons had a great time meeting with long time CCC customers and interacting with lots of new faces too! If you were in attendance perhaps you were one of the lucky "button" winners that were spotted by Juan. Or at least got to go home with a teddy bear. Feedback from Garry's session "Leveraging Your Current Avaya Communication Manager Investment" on Thursday has been overwhelming. Didn't get a chance to see it? That's OK, we recorded it and will have it available on our YouTube channel and website soon. Stay tuned! | Tim & Stacy rocking out at the Goo Goo Dolls show |
Very special thanks go out to our "teddy bear ambassador's" Tim Blevons and Stacy Reidy for all their hard work at our booth, interacting with long time CCC customers and making many new acquaintances. Last but not least, we would like to recognize Nicole Poull, Interactive Producer and Social Strategist, who did an amazing job ensuring CCC was covered via every social media channel and even included in the IAUG mobile app. GREAT WORK NICOLE! | See You Next Year at IAUG 2014! |

7+1 Reasons Unitrends 7.1 Leads in Virtual, Physical, and Cloud Data Protections
Mark Campbell, Unitrends | Modern Backup 2 Blog
These are some pretty exciting times here. Unitrends has released 7.1 which continues its dominance in Unified Data Protection™ as the #1 mid-market vendor for virtual, physical, and cloud data protection. Here are just a few of the new features that have been released in 7.1 in our Recovery-series physical appliance and our Unitrends Enterprise Backup™ Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere virtual appliance: - Integrated global deduplication and WAN acceleration. Unitrends has integrated its global deduplication capabilities with its replication capabilities - this has resulted in more scalable higher performance source-based deduplication-based replication both on-premise and off-premise or cloud. What does this mean to you? Faster replication using less resource because both the local and replication target use global deduplication to not only reduce the amount of data sent across the WAN but also that the source and replication target data uses 400% or more less storage than competitors.
- User experience enhancements. Simply Scalable™. It's the key technology behind the best user experience in the industry - the ability to deliver a shrink-wrapped experience to a wide range of users while enabling enterprise-class capabilities. Just a few of our user experience enhancements include:
- More granular Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere virtual machine navigation, status, recovery, replication, and reporting via integration of virtual and physical navigation.
- A Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere aware storage wizard for even easier setup of our Unitrends Enterprise Backup™ all-in-one virtual appliance.
- And since we've got the best customers in the industry - dozens of customer-recommended improvements that we're continuously making as well. Exchange Server 2013 protection. Have a physical Exchange implementation? Have a virtual implementation which is clustered or which you wish you had greater protection and recovery granularity? Unitrends is there for you with both physical and virtual Exchange protection - which now includes Exchange 2013.
- SharePoint 2013 protection. Have a physical SharePoint implementation? Have a virtual implementation which is a farm or which you wish you had greater protection and recovery granularity? Unitrends is there for you with both physical and virtual SharePoint protection - which now includes SharePoint 2013.
- Oracle protection. Have a physical or virtual Oracle implementation? We support native Oracle protection in both environments. Today we support Oracle on Windows - what's coming later this summer (release 7.2) is also support for Linux and Solaris.
- Enhanced SAN protection features. SAN-direct backups (LANless backups) are now supported not only on our Recovery-series appliances but also in our Unitrends Enterprise Backup™ virtual appliance.
- Enhanced D2D2T tape archive support. Our Recovery-series physical appliances now add Fibre Channel tape support to our existing SAS and LVD tape support
- 4TB D2D2D rotational archive drive support. Our Recovery-series physical appliances desk- and rack-based archive units are now certified with 4TB drives.

Most Data Breaches Caused by Human Error, System Glitches
By Thor Olavsrud - June 17, 2013 - CIO.com
When it comes to data breaches, hackers and organized crime garner most of the headlines, but most data breaches are caused by human errors and system glitches-application failures, inadvertent data dumps, logic errors in data transfer and more. As a result, educating your employees and making sure they're not cutting corners is a big component in preventing data breaches.
In fact, according to a new study by Symantec and the Ponemon Institute, 64 percent of data breaches in 2012 were the result of human mistakes and system problems. "While external attackers and their evolving methods pose a great threat to companies, the dangers associated with the insider threat can be equally destructive and insidious," says Larry Ponemon, chairman and founder of security research think tank the Ponemon Institute. "Eight years of research on data breach costs has shown employee behavior to be one of the most pressing issues facing organizations today, up 22 percent since the first survey." Read more... |
