REVISED POST! News of the Rabbinic Transition
|
News of the Rabbinic Transition
Interim candidate Rabbi Mark Glickman has been meeting with congregants and staff this week on the HHS campus. Feedback is being collected by the Interim Search Committee at [email protected]. Many thanks to all who have been involved in this interviewing process.
The Committee will make a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees, utilizing feedback from all involved, immediately following the last interview. Since Interim Rabbi candidates are interviewing with other congregations, the Committee will recommend the Board act swiftly by extending an offer to the best candidate. We anticipate being in final negotiations the latter half of April and completing this search process in May.
As a reminder, the one year term and role of the Interim Rabbi is to provide a steady, guiding hand as we proceed with our congregational planning, visioning and subsequent search for a Senior Rabbi. We look forward to the broadest congregational involvement in the search for and selection of the next Senior Rabbi.
If you have further questions please feel free to contact Sam Goldman at [email protected].

REVISED POST! A Message From Rabbi Rose About Tuv Ha'Aretz, Boulder's Interfaith Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
|
Eat Delicious and Healthy Food and Support Jewish Values
For the last several years, Channah and I have been participants in the Boulder Jewish CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, which goes by the name Tuv Ha'Aretz. If you don't know what that is, here's a simple version: You pay your contribution and then for the rest of the season you get fresh, beautiful, healthy, organic vegetables straight from the farm. Har HaShem is a sponsor of Tuv Ha'Aretz because we believe it is an expression of several Jewish values coming together: being mindful about caring for our bodies, taking care to see that food is grown in a sustainable way that is good for us and for the planet, participating in a way that supports our community economically and that supports Jewish community.
You can learn more about Tuv Ha'aretz and CSAs at http://tuvhaaretz.wordpress.com/ and you can sign up with the link that follows the blurb below. Before you sign up, keep in mind that it might make sense for you to split a weekly share of vegetables with someone else. This is what Channah and I did with Rabbi Bronstein. Each week when we got our bag full of fresh veggies we would give half to Rabbi Bronstein and take half for our family. Here is the blurb that was put together by Tuv Ha'Aretz:
The start of the CSA season is only a few weeks away! If you have not yet signed up for your CSA membership, now is the time to do so. Red Wagon Organic Farm has now sold almost 75% of the available shares and they are no longer reserving shares for returning members. Tuv Ha'Aretz is planning many programs for the 2014 season including a new and improved newsletter, a blog that helps you plan how to use all of your delicious vegetables as well as our ever popular food tastings and cooking classes. Please avoid disappointment by signing up before it is too late. Follow this link to sign up and be sure to select one of the Tuv Ha'Aretz options.

If you have questions about Tuv Ha'Aretz, send an email to Emily Warm at [email protected] or visit our website at http://tuvhaaretz.wordpress.com.

Rose Community Foundation "Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy Initiative" Comes to HHS
|
Legacy Giving offers donors a way to protect the organizations and communities they love, while making a profound impact on future generations through a gift that will keep on giving in perpetuity.
Leaving a contribution to Har HaShem in your will is a wonderful way to help ensure its future for years to come without any impact to your current annual giving. HHS has been selected by Rose Community Foundation to participate in their Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy initiative - an incentive grant that will help educate our community, and has provided us with training and informational materials about Legacy Giving. Our goal is to create an "endowment" where the principal remains untouched but annual returns are used yearly to continue to serve our community. This would provide a cushion of safety to smooth over any yearly fluctuations in resources due to emergencies, the economy or other adverse events. Many of you have already included Har HaShem in your Estate Plan, and if you have - please contact Jane Stein, who is spearheading this effort, so that we may thank you and confirm that your wishes are documented. We will begin to launch this exciting campaign soon but if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jane (or Gary) at [email protected] or 303-247-0481.

Shabbat Service Greeters Needed in 2014
Greeters are needed every Shabbat - 52 Friday evenings a year. Greeters welcome guests at the front door of the building and at the sanctuary door. A smile, friendly attitude, and a willingness to show up 15 minutes before the service starts and stay through the Oneg are all it takes to help in this significant way as we welcome members and guests.
Won't you commit now to at least one Friday a year? Do it for a loved one's yahrzeit, do it to commemorate a birthday or special occasion, do it to support a friend's b'nai mitzvah. Just do it because it's the right thing to do.
