NEW POST! Update Your HHS Financial Obligations
|
Please Make Sure Your HHS Financial Obligations are Up to Date
As we approach the mid point of our July-June financial year, please make sure your financial obligations to Har HaShem are up to date. For those members who send us a monthly payment or a twice-a-year payment, this would mean that one half of dues and tuition payments will need to be received by our office by December 31. For those members on a monthly credit card plan, we will automatically do this.
All payments to Har HaShem received by December 31 will be acknowledged in statements you will receive in late January and may be used by you for tax purposes. Thank you for your support.

WHHS Hosts Rivvy Neshama, Author of
Recipes for a Sacred Life: True Stories and Few Miracles
Tuesday, December 17th
7 PM
North Building Social Hall
The Women of Har HaShem are pleased to host an evening of readings and discussion with local author, Rivvy Neshama. We have invited women from Bonai Shalom, who are still unable to use their flood - damaged synagogue.
Rivvy's newest book, RECIPES FOR A SACRED LIFE: TRUE STORIES AND FEW MIRACLES is a collection of short, true tales, featuring real people and experiences. She shows us how ordinary encounters with friends, lovers, and strangers can connect us with the sacred, adding love, joy and purpose to our lives. Jewish wisdom, holidays and traditions are threaded throughout the book.
Rivvy's work has appeared in such publications as Ms., Glamour, and The New York Times. Reviews are excellent, and as this is written, her book is the #1 seller at the Boulder Bookstore. She will bring some of her books to autograph.
We hope you will plan to come and enjoy the readings and discussion, and help us greet our friends from Bonai. Your friends are welcome, and there is no charge. We have a generous, anonymous sponsor. Please contact Harriet Boonin with any questions, 303-494-3189, or [email protected].

Volunteers Needed to Help the Homeless Tuesday Evenings Through Winter
Once again we are hosting homeless adults to sleep in our South Building, through BOHO (Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow). This year, our weekly night is TUESDAY. We need volunteers to:
1. Help set out our blankets (for 60-130 guests) between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.
2. (If we get enough volunteers) Heat and serve a simple vegetarian meal (probably soup or chili and bread), from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
3. Provide individually wrapped nutritious breakfast bars (protein bars etc) -- to be delivered by 7:00 Tuesday nights.
If you can help (sometimes) please contact Sara-Jane Cohen, [email protected], to be on the list of possible volunteers. You will get an email every Tuesday morning to see if you are available that night. THANK YOU!

Looking for a Way to Get Involved?
Volunteers are Always Needed
If you don't see something of interest listed below, contact [email protected] to discuss other needs.
BE A FRIDAY EVENING SHABBAT SERVICE GREETER AT THE SYNAGOGUE! 52 Friday evenings a year, Har HaShem holds an evening Shabbat service starting at 6 PM (except on the first Friday of each month when it begins at 7 PM). Greeters are needed to welcome guests at the front door and at the sanctuary door. A smile, friendly attitude, and willingness to show up 15 minutes early are all it takes to help in this significant way as we welcome members and guests. Won't you commit to at least one Friday a year? Do it for a loved one's yahrzeit, do it to commemorate a birthday or special occasion, do it to support a friend's b'nai mitzvah. Just do it! We're using VolunteerSpot to organize the Shabbat Greeter Program. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot at
http://vols.pt/7xTnUU - then enter your email address and choose your date. Easy!
THE MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT TEAM MEETS MONTHLY on the SECOND MONDAY FROM 6:30-8 PM. Volunteers are always needed to plan events, make phone calls to new members, and create a warm and welcoming synagogue environment for everyone. Contact Molly Goldsmith for information at [email protected].
JOIN THE ENVIRONMENTAL TASK FORCE!
If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Cathy Shoenfeld at
[email protected]. With your participation, align Jewish values and deeds to make great things happen!
HELP SERVE FOOD WITH HHS on SUNDAY MORNINGS at HOMELESS SHELTER: Har HaShem provides volunteers at the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays by cooking and serving a hot breakfast to the residents at the shelter. This is a great volunteer opportunity for parents of Sunday School students as you can fit it in before the kids are even up for Sunday School. Contact Valerie Finberg at (303) 588 9392 or [email protected].
DRIVE SENIORS to HHS: If 21 or older and you would like to volunteer to drive seniors to services and activities at Har HaShem, fill out a short form and provide copies of your driver's license and insurance card in advance. Contact the office at (303) 499-7077.
