ONE SIMPLE CALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON TWO CRITICAL BILLS!

With the clock ticking on Beacon Hill, we have TWO critical bills that can pass if you and other members of our community pick up the phone TODAY OR TOMORROW and call (or email) Senate President Therese Murray.

REAL LIVES BILL (House Version): President Murray needs to know that our Down syndrome community supports the House version of the Real Lives , which would improve and streamline the funding mechanism for disability services.
NATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECK BILL: President Murray has already pledged her support for the NBC Bill when it comes to the Senate. Please take this opportunity to remind her.

Time is of the essence for these two bills that will make a major difference in the lives and safety of our loved ones!

CALL PRESIDENT MURRAY TODAY (OR TOMORROW) - HERE'S HOW...

Please call Senate President Therese Murray today or tomorrow at 617-722-1500. When you call, you will talk to one of President Murray's staff. Here's what you can say:

Hi, I'm calling because I have a loved one (son/daughter, brother/sister, myself, cousin, friend, student, etc.) with Down syndrome. There are two bills in the Senate that will make a significant impact in the quality of his/her life and in his/her safety. I know President Murray has been a huge supporter of our community in the past. Thank you for that, and I hope she will do everything possible to help these bills pass before the end of the session.

REAL LIVES BILL (HB4237)

The Real Lives Bill, HB4237, will make a huge difference by allowing my loved one and other people with disabilities to have greater flexibility and more control over the state funding they receive. This will make a significant difference in their quality of life for years to come. Please note that I am speaking about the House version of the bill.

NATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECK BILL (HB4125)

The National Background Check Bill (HB4125) is critical to protecting people with Down syndrome and other disabilities from potentially dangerous and tragic circumstances. Please help close this loophole that allows people with criminal records outside Massachusetts to work with my loved one and others with disabilities!
