"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"

Lent can be a wonderful season to take on new life and spiritual practices. It can also be a fruitful time to add new community worship experiences to your prayer life. It is in that spirit that I warmly invite you to the Lent Potluck Dinner Church. Potluck Dinner Church is a more casual encounter with community and communion around a shared meal and theme. Everyone contributes to the experience by bringing food or liturgical pieces.

This gathering will be an artist Compline service themed around reconciliation and healing. Come for music, prayers, art, reflection, a shared meal, and wonderful community. This gathering will take place on Sunday March 6th at 5:30pm in the Assembly Area.

Potluck Dinner Church has been holding monthly themed dinner church worship services for almost 2 years now. I host a weekly leadership circle made up of creative individuals that plan and lead these collaborative services. If you are interested in being a part of this vibrant planning community, we would love to have you!

Peace,
Megan +

Two Early Birds Needed

Pilgrimage Sac (formerly Safe Ground Pilgrimage) needs two early risers to serve breakfast to our overnight guests on the 4th Thursday of every month. Duties include making coffee and a simple breakfast (usually oatmeal). We need two people that are available from 6:30am to 8:00am to serve breakfast and clean the kitchen. If you are available and interested, please contact co-coordinator Jessie Orgambide at jorgambide@gmail.com
Creeds from the Growing in Faith Candidates...
During a retreat focused on the Apostles' Creed, we ask our catechumens and candidates to write their own creed. We do this because these candidates, and all of us, will proclaim our Baptismal Covenant at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday. During Lent we will share with you the creeds that the candidates composed during the retreat.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty.

I believe that God initiated the "Big Bang' and thereby created the universe and the natural laws that govern its operations.

I believe that God loved humanity so completely that he became man to deliver us from sin.

I believe that sin means "missing the mark".

I believe in forgiveness of sins as one of the central tenants of faith: both forgiveness of self and of others.

I believe that the Archangel Gabriel delivered the message of the Incarnation to the Virgin Mary that she was going to receive the Holy Spirit and give birth to the son of God.

I believe that Christ was crucified and three days later was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven and now sits on the right hand of God.

I believe in the power of prayer and the prayers can be answered.

I believe that Jesus performed miracles during his time on earth and that this should help inspire out faith.

I believe in Jesus' teaching as a guide for behavior.

I believe in the communion of saints and their power as guardian angels in our lives.

I believe in eternity, heaven, and life everlasting.

Hiking
Hiking Guild Special Hike: SUTTER BUTTES
Saturday, March 19, 2016

Ridge Hike - East Shaeffer Ranch

This is a special hike in a deeply spiritual place that has touched the hearts of all in our group. It was the last time that we had the pleasure of the company of Alan Meyer on one of our outings. There are many hikes throughout the Buttes, rated from 1 boot to 6 boots [1 being easiest: 3-4 miles, less that 600 feet elevation].   The beauty of this area is difficult to express. You will return to Sacramento with a renewed sense of wonder.

You have to make advance reservations for this hike, as the landowners who allow us to go on their properties try to limit the impact on their ranches. Also, there is a cost of $35.00 per person, which must be paid as indicated below to secure your reservation.   Money goes to pay for the docents who lead the hikes; help the landowner defray administrative cost [insurance]; and support the Middle Mountain Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to keep the Buttes from being developed commercially.

Because of the drive to the Buttes, the time for gathering at the cathedral and departure are changed. Make sure your alarm clock is adjusted accordingly.

Otherwise, same Rules:
  • 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month:
  • Meet on Cathedral steps at 6:45am for a 7:00am departure:
  • Bring plenty of water, snacks and a sack lunch.
  • Prepare to have good fellowship and a good walk in God's Great Outdoors.
This is a special hike for members of our group of hikers.

Send your check for $35 per person made out to:
         Middle Mountain Foundation
PO Box 3613, Yuba City, CA 95992
         March 19, 2016

I am having Middle Mountain hold open 18 spaces for this hike out of a total of 23 allowed. When those spaces are gone, you will have to wait until next year to see the buttes.   So please, if you want to go one this hike, sign up ASAP. Your check should Memo Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Group.  Please e-mail me and let me know you are signed up so I can keep track.

NorCal AIDS Cycle still "on track"

The Red Baron and I have been training hard for NorCal AIDS Cycle, which begins in just about eleven weeks! Unfortunately, there was a little setback, when we crashed on some railroad tracks just outside the town of Franklin on a recent ride. I was off the bike for two weeks, but have started training once again! With the ride coming up fast, there's no time to lose!

I am deeply appreciative of everyone who has supported me in this endeavor for the last six years. Your contributions have helped agencies in our community serving those with HIV/AIDS, and to help in stopping this entirely preventable disease. So I am asking you to join me again to raise funds for this important work. And I promise to ride all three-hundred miles of NCAC in exchange. Just click this link to make a tax deductible contribution!  http://tinyurl.com/l6ezaq7
