"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"

As Brian so eloquently spoke in his sermon last Sunday, saying that life is difficult ...is an understatement. We have all had our moments of suffering, hurts, and pains. We have suffered loss of loved ones, job difficulties, health issues and for some of us (if not all of us), deep dark pain which seems unbearable.

As the Cathedral, we welcome all people and as this community, we have witnessed each other's pain and this week as been no exception.

It always amazes me the power that prayer can have. It changes everything. It shifts the energy from panic to peace, from chaos to calm. Suffering happens and there's no way that we can avoid it. As author John Green says, "pain demands to be felt" and when we validate it, the healing can begin. And when the healing begins, oh my Lord...what beauty and blessing comes on the other side.

When you're in the midst of suffering, keep in mind that you are not alone and that you are a part of a community of mutual support. We have small groups, Stephen Ministers and clergy that are available to you in these times of struggle.

I believe the spirit is here working in each of us to bring us to wholeness. And as Julian of Norwich says, "All will be well. All will be well. ALL will be well."

Peace & Shalom,

Pamela

The Easter Bunny

needs your help!

We need filled plastic Easter eggs for our annual Easter egg hunt.

Please bring 10 - 12 plastic eggs filled with a piece of candy or a sticker to church on the Sundays before Friday, April 4th, or drop them off at the church office. We have bags of empty eggs in the back of the church and in the Great Hall - please take a bag of eggs and bring them back filled. You are also welcome to purchase empty plastic eggs yourself, and bring them back filled.

If you'd like to "recycle" your plastic eggs after Easter - bring them to church and we'll use them next year.

Floyd School News...

We are excited about presenting a children's play/musical, "Sleeping Beauty" at Floyd Elementary School, the below poverty level school adopted by Trinity Cathedral.  These students have never before had the opportunity to perform in any type of theatrical production.

Besides assisting with rehearsals, we are looking for help in preparing sets, lighting, costumes, make-up, and music.  Rehearsals will begin within the next few weeks, concluding with two final performances during the first week in June.

If you have any interest in helping introduce these students to the magic of the theater experience, please join us!  Our email addresses are listed below:

Benefit Organ concert with Canon Link

The Trinity Cathedral Music Series presents Cathedral organist David Link in a benefit pipe organ concert on Sunday, March 8th at 4:00 pm.

The concert is a benefit for NorCal AIDS Cycle, a 330 mile/4 day bike ride which raises funds for local agencies serving those suffering from HIV/AIDS. Many of these agencies also provide prevention and testing services, to help stem the tide of this entirely preventable disease. So in addition to pedaling his bike three-hundred and thirty-miles, Canon Link will be playing the organ pedals to raise funds for NCAC, on Trinity Cathedral's recently restored pipe organ.

David Link recently celebrated his thirtieth year as Canon Musician at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and has participated in NorCal AIDS Cycle for the last five years. Canon Link rides in memory of Kenneth Piercy, a long time Trinity Cathedral Choir member who died from complications of AIDS in 2011.

The program will include: "Fantasia in G major (Piece d'Orgue)" by J.S.Bach, "Rondeau" by Henry Purcell, "Fantasie sur le Te Deum" by Charles Tournemire, and much more.

The suggested minimum donation for the concert is $10 at the door, though donations of any kind, large or small will be gratefully accepted! And if you are unable to attend the concert, but would still like to support the cause, just click this link to make a contribution!

Small Groups

It is with great joy that the Adult Spiritual Formation team announces that the launch of the Small Group Series has been very successful! There are 23 small groups (16 of which are completely new) with over 160 participants and the response has been very positive.

Matthew Fox helped us launch this new ministry. He was the first in our series of guest speakers and there were approximately 280 in attendance when he spoke earlier this month. He did an incredible job and if you missed the evening, here is a link to his talk.

I am impressed with the creativity and leadership of this church. There are some groups that have decided to have themes of gardening, knitting, photography, etc. as they discuss the Matthew Fox meditations. I went to the gardening group the other day and I was excited as they were planting seeds and discussing God's creation and creativity around us everyday. As these seeds take root and go deeper so that the flower can bloom, may our roots grow deeper in this community and take root so that our faith can bloom.

If you're interested in participating in this exciting ministry, it's not too late to sign up. We have designed this for you. Here's the link of the current groups that are available.Let us know what works for you and your schedule.

Peace & Shalom,

Pamela
