"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"

INTRODUCTIONS: "Mary, I'd like to introduce a friend, John. John, this is Mary."

Introductions are good. We meet new people; expand our horizons; keep life interesting. At Trinity we have a series of introductions that help many of us expand our horizons. Several years ago Dean Baker said he would like to have a series of introductory courses on matters that are important to our Christian life. Our Adult Spiritual Formation classes, presentations and programs are interesting and worthwhile. However some people fear they will be lost in the conversation because they don't have a basic understanding of the topic. Our Adult Spiritual Formation program has a mantra: "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask," but still.....

We have developed four introductory courses: "Introduction to the Old Testament," "Introduction to the New Testament," "Introduction to Worship & Prayer," and "Introduction to the Church." Each of these courses assumes absolutely no knowledge of the subject. In the Bible introductions we start with "This is a Bible. It is divided into two main sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament" and away we go! Currently we have begun an "Introduction to the New Testament" course on Sunday mornings between the 9:00 and 11:15 services. After Labor Day we'll move to "Introduction to the Church."

Of course, even if you do feel you have some knowledge of the subject matter, you might want to come and see if one of these courses would be good for you. When we first offered "Introduction to Worship and Prayer" last year, numerous "long time" parishioners came to the classes. We might be standing, bowing and saying some prayers but not really know why we are doing so. Likewise we may listen to a Gospel passage about a Pharisee or a Sadducee and not know who these folks were. Who are the Corinthians to whom Paul spends so much time writing? And the big one - what about this Book of Revelation?

You may wonder about these and many other things concerning the New Testament. Come to the "Introduction to the New Testament" class and get your questions answered. Remember, there is only one stupid question...so bring them on! See you Sunday around 10:15?

One of the Spiritual Practices that Trinity makes available each month to our parishioners and to the wider community is the opportunity to walk the Labyrinth.  Walking the Labyrinth is a way of centering, a way of slowing the pace, a way of entrusting one's journey to God.  The Labyrinth Ministry is currently looking for a couple of volunteers who could help set up and take down the canvas in the Great Hall on the third Friday of the month.  If you would be willing to take a turn please contact Rhonda Canby and let her know your availability at rcanby@msn.com.

IS GROWING!

Trinity's community garden is up and running with only four garden plots still available! The cost to rent a 4-ft x 4-ft plot is just $25 per calendar year.

We want the garden to be accessible, including to those who use wheelchairs or who may want to take a mindful stroll, by creating pathways of decomposed granite.  We would also like to beautify the garden (and help keep those pesky weeds at bay) by covering the unplanted portions with a weed barrier and wood chips.  You can help make this happen (and later enjoy the results!) by making a donation toward the estimated $2,000 cost of these materials.  Simply write a check to Trinity with a memo "community garden" and drop it in the collection plate or at the office, or use a donation envelope noting "for garden" to make a cash donation.  Please contact Anita at anita.trinity@gmail.com if interested in a plot. Thank you for your support in this most worthwhile and beautifying project!

Summer Sunday School - Abundant Life

Please join us for our Summer Sunday School program, Abundant Life Garden Project, beginning Sunday, July 6th - August 24th. This program, designed by Episcopal Relief and Development, engages children with Bible stories focused on water, seeds, soil, animals, and harvest. We'll explore what plants and animals need to grow and flourish, and what we as children of God need to grow and shine as a light to the world! We'll meet upstairs in the Assembly Area from 10:15 - 11:15 on Sunday mornings in July and August. We are looking for junior and senior high school youth to help with this program, as well as some adult leaders. If you are interested, please let Rev. Kathy Hopner know at 930-8027.

Moms, Pops, and Tots

Moms, Pops, and Tots is on summer break! Please join us again in September on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 - 11:30 in the nursery. We welcome children ages birth to four and their parents and grandparents.

We need Legos, Legos, Legos!

Do you have unused Legos that need a new home? We are just the place for them! In September, we will begin a new Sunday School program for our second and third grade class: Building Faith, Brick by Brick. We are very excited about this program which uses Legos to explore our faith stories. We'd love donations of used or new Legos - we're also in need of Lego people and their accessories.
