e-News
"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"

Greetings! In the next week or so, we have two special events I would like to mention. First is our annual Blessing of the Animals this Sunday at 3pm. Please come and bring your pets for this brief and fun service. Normally this service takes place inside the Cathedral but in order to make room for a concert that evening, we will have the service on the lawn between the Cathedral and 27th Street. The second event is the fall dinner we will have Saturday, October 12. This is our 2nd annual fall stewardship dinner; last-year's dinner was a great success. The dinner is hosted by the vestry and is an opportunity to celebrate some of the remarkable ministries that happen at Trinity Cathedral. If you can come, please sign up in the Great Hall or call the church office. Blessings, Brian
The Very Rev. Dr. Brian Baker Dean, Trinity Cathedral Sacramento, CA

Attention Writers and Everyone Else
Ever longed to write, to put prayers to words, but not sure how to do it? Now is your chance! Trinity Cathedral has a practice of inviting individuals to compose the Intercessory Prayers (Prayers of the People) each week. If you have any interest in joining the team that practices this activity, please contact me today. The goal is to form a group of 10 - 12 people. This would mean that each individual would be responsible for the prayers once every two months. Please pray, consider and then let me know! Susan Van Dyke (dvandyke876@sbcglobal.net) No previous experience needed.

If you know of anyone who is upgrading to a newer model, and would like to make a donation to the church, please contact Rev. Kathy Hopner at 930-8027.
Thank you!

Team Name: Sutter Health Sac-Sierra Region

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a world without breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society is working towards that by funding breast cancer research. Such research costs real dollars. We need your help.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a world without breast cancer.
Until that happens women and men need support during and after their treatment. The American Cancer Society is there with information regarding treatment, transportation assistance through free wheelers, and ways to reduce the physical impact of chemotherapy with free wigs and "Look Good Feel Better" classes. Over 40% of women diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States turns to the American Cancer Society for help. Such support costs real dollars. We need your help.

Capital Region Connect:
Employment Connect and Homeless Connect
Friday, October 25
This year marks the first annual Capital Region Connect, an event aimed to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness by connecting individuals with needed employment and supportive services. Capital Region Connect is comprised of two events: Employment Connect and Homeless Connect.
Employment Connect is a unique job-fair designed to link ready-to-hire participants with employers who are ready and willing to hire. This job fair is built upon collaboration, support, and the understanding that in order to end homelessness, the community must address systemic causes, one of which is unemployment.
Homeless Connect is modeled after Project Homeless Connect, originating in San Francisco in 2004. Homeless Connect is a distinctive event, as it provides a myriad of services to individuals experiencing homelessness in a "one-stop shop" fashion. Homeless Connect emphasizes hospitality and creates an environment where individuals feel comfortable accessing services on their path toward stability.
Capital Region Connect will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013. For more information about this event and how to get involved, please contact Anira Khlok, Information and Program Coordinator at akhlok@sacstepsforward.org.

Free Film Screening: God Loves Uganda Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 pm Crocker Art Museum, 216 O Street, Sacramento
The Sacramento chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State will host a FREE screening of the film, God Loves Uganda. The program begins at 7:00 PM. NOTE: Doors open at 6:00 PM for reserved seats; unclaimed seats will be released at 6:45 PM and filled on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Senator Darrell Steinberg, Senate President pro Tem, will address the audience and lead an interactive discussion about this powerful documentary that explores the American Evangelical exportation of intolerance, particularly against the LGBT. The film follows evangelical leaders in America and Uganda, as well as politicians and missionaries, as they attempt the radical task of eliminating "sexual six" and converting Ugandans to fundamentalist Christianity.
Interviews and hidden camera footage give unprecedented access into the rising influence of the evangelical movement in Uganda; it illustrates the notorious Ugandan 'Kill the Gays' bill, largely American-influenced, and the dangerous repercussions of intolerance.
A trailer for the film is posted on our chapter website: www.au-sac.org
Reserve a seat(s) and find parking information here: ausac-godlovesuganda.eventbrite.com
We hope you are able to join us. Please contact Carol Velarde (Cavelarde@aol.com) if you have any questions or comments.
