"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"

Greetings!

Brian Baker
I call your attention to the note from Nancy Tennyson. Nancy is announcing her retirement. One of the blessings and joys of being Dean of Trinity Cathedral is working with a remarkable staff and Nancy is certainly at the top of the list. Nancy has created a close-knit, supportive and active community of children, teens and adults. Because of Nancy's vision, leadership and limitless love for children, Trinity Cathedral is a place where many children, and adults, have been transformed by God in Christ. I know you will join me in thanking her for her years of faithful service and help her embrace the new life that is waiting for her.

Blessings,

Brian

Volunteer Opportunities...

Family Promise

Family Promise

Hosting Week: March 17-24

Many volunteer opportunities still open!!Please consider offering your time and talent during this week!! It could be part of your Lenten Discipline. There are opportunities to prepare a dinner, help with playing / conversing with the families, and / or spend the night. We will have three families this week with children ranging from 16 months to 9 years old.

As I prepare for this week it is clear that a TEAM of at least two others must be recruited to work with me. It requires a Team effort to coordinate the tasks that need to be done in order to assure a successful hosting week. With a team, the week and/or duties could be divided up so that all the responsibility does not fall on one person. WE NEED A TEAM of co-coordinators. Please prayerfully consider, thencontact me at

Single morning volunteer opportunity

The Sacramento interfaith group is organizing teams to work at the East Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Groups of 5 to 50 are invited to clean headstones and do some light refurbishment. This might be a great family effort on a beautiful day in April! A headcount is needed as quickly as possible, so if you're interested contact Deacon Virginia at virginiamcneely@msn.com or 916-444-0720.

Canon Nancy TennysonFor everything there is a season...

...and a time for every matter under heaven.

I have decided that it is time for me to retire from this wonderful job as Director of Family Ministries at Trinity Cathedral.  I will complete my 20 plus years here on Sunday, June 16, 2013.  I have loved this job and especially the children of all ages very much.  With the birth of my grandson, Tanner John Tennyson, and other family needs I have decided to step down.  This congregation is the most wonderful in the world and you all have been extremely supportive of the children, programs and me for the last 20 years and I really appreciate it.  It is the best job anyone could have.

There will be a search team put together shortly that will be looking for the next Director of Family Ministries.  I encourage you to pray for that team and my successor.  There are many talented people out there.  After June 16 I will attend another
church so that the new person can get established. That doesn't mean that I'm not available for lunch or other fun things!

Thank you to all for your wonderful support in this ministry.  I have loved every minute of it.

Blessings to you all,

Canon Nancy Tennyson

Gun Voilence SabbathGun Violence Prevention Sabbath

March 10

This Sunday, Trinity Cathedral will join religious congregations across the country for Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath, an effort by people of faith to address the tragedy of gun violence in our country. To prepare for our worship and study, members of Trinity Cathedral are encouraged to take two steps this week:

1) Learn about the current national debate on gun violence by reading an article or listening to a news report. The Sacramento Bee ran a great editorial on the subject, which addressed local efforts and the role of faith congregations on February 14. You can read it at: http://www.sacbee.com/2013/02/14/5189152/editorial-dont-let-up-on-sacramentos.html.

2) Prayerfully consider the incidence of gun violence in our community. Families in our parish and in our community have lost loved ones to gun violence, and this Sunday, on Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath, we will remember those who we have lost and consider what response God calls us to as people of faith. (To learn more about the national Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath events, visit www.PICONetwork.org.)
