Greetings!
Brian Baker

We are now a few days away from celebrating Christmas. For some it feels incongruous to be moving toward a celebration that is normally marked with merriment when we are still reeling from the horrible killing at Sandy Hook Elementary School. But in reality, Christmas is not a time of merriment as much as it is a time of awe and wonder at the presence of God in the midst of our broken and too-often tragic world. At Christmas we remember the birth of God into humble and harsh circumstances punctuated with the killing of innocent children by King Herod. Christmas is about God being with us in our brokenness. In that light, this seems like the perfect time to celebrate Christmas.

In a normal year, and this year is clearly not normal, people often wrestle with sadness as they miss family members who are estranged who live far away or who have died. If this is a sad time for you, there are Stephen Ministers at Trinity who are available to provide companionship and a listening ear. Please feel free to call the Cathedral office if you would like to talk with a Stephen Minister.
As we move toward Christmas, I invite you to the Greening of the Cathedral which will begin on Sunday at 1:00pm. Please feel free to wear casual clothes to Church on Sunday so you can be dressed to join others in making the garlands we hang in the Cathedral. Tools will be provided, but you may want to bring a pair of gloves and perhaps pruning shears if you have them.

Bishop Beisner will be with us on Christmas Eve. He will preach at the 7:00pm and 8:30pm services. He will also celebrate at the 5:00pm and 11:00pm services. I will preach at the 3:00pm and 5:00pm children's services and the 11:00 "Midnight Mass".

Finally, Bishop Lamb, our former bishop, had a heart attack on Sunday. Early Monday morning he had surgery to place three stents. The surgery went well. He is now home and recovering. Please keep Jerry and Jane in your prayers.

Blessings,
Brian

Labyrinth

Labyrinth Ministry:

Would You Like to Carry It On?

Trinity Cathedral has had a Labyrinth ministry for a number of years. Currently people are able to walk and pray the Labyrinth on the third Friday of the month at 6:00PM. The date and time can be changed if we are able to find a regular day and time of the week. Trinity's Labyrinth is canvas. Overseeing this type of prayer time involves getting to Trinity one hour before the scheduled start, rolling out the canvases, setting the environment with candles and meditative music and putting everything away at the end of the prayer time. The total time commitment (with a one hour prayer time that can be extended if desired) is three hours. One person has expressed an interest in continuing this ministry but needs at least two others to work with him. Is that you? If so, please contact Jerry Paré at the office (jpare111452@gmail.com; 916-930-8032)
