TRINITY EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL
e-News
"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"
|
| Greetings!
Imagine what we could do if our ministries were not on top of one another! Imagine the ways in which we could serve our wider community and one another if we had adequate and appropriate rooms for our choir, our children and our feeding programs. We have been given a remarkable opportunity to purchase the two lots next to the Cathedral. We have had a history of a shrinking footprint. Now we have the rare chance to reverse that trend. We own the third lot, the lot with the duplex. After we purchase the two lots from the diocese, we will begin looking at what we may be able to build on the three lots together. It is conceivable that we could build the first phase of a multi-floor project in the next few years.
If we are to do this, we must first buy the lots. We have raised about $65,000 of the needed purchase price of $80,000. Our initial, minimum goal, is to raise $80,000. Our "stretch" goal is to raise $100,000. That would give us the needed money to cover any expenses of the purchase and also begin to care for the property once it is ours. We will be collecting contributions during our next two weekend services. I encourage you to be as generous as you possibly can so we can take advantage of this very exciting opportunity. If you want to make a pledge through next year, rather than simply give a one-time contribution, that would be fine. Simply indicate your intention on the offering envelope you will be provided.
Blessings,
Brian

Do you travel?
Have toiletries?
Many of us travel for pleasure or work and bring home from hotels the little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion as well as bars of soap. These small items are of great help to the homeless and the poor. Please bring your donations of toiletries to Trinity and leave them in the marked basket in the Narthex. Carol Savoie will deliver them to St. Matthew's for their health ministry, which is desperate for them. In the future, if donations are generous, we will share toiletries with River City Food Bank and Loaves and Fishes.

July 19 - Martin Luther: His Music, His Life
Presented by Loren Weatherly
In addition to being a theologian, a reformer, and an author, Martin Luther was an artist, a musician, and a composer. He wrote songs that for hundreds of years have been sung by worshippers in their congregations. Composers have used his melodies in countless ways. He said, "I truly desire that all Christians would love and regard as worthy the lovely gift of music, which is a precious, worthy, and costly treasure given to mankind by God." Come and hear his words on music, and hear some of his music!

Do You Hear What I Hear? A Call for Authors
Often it is the most inspirational stories of faith journey among Episcopalians that require the greatest of digging to unearth. Unspoken, these stories are like buried treasures that, when shared, prove the most compelling examples of God's great work. In considering the next issue of our diocesan print magazine, "Together in Mission," the Communications Commission would like to feature some of the inspiring stories and reflections of faith of our fellow Episcopalians throughout Northern California.
