TRINITY EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL
e-News
"A Growing community making disciples who love and serve Christ and His world"
|
| Greetings!
On Tuesday I will be going to Indianapolis for the Episcopal Church's triennial General Convention. Each diocese sends their bishop(s) with 4 lay representatives and 4 clergy representatives to the Convention which is the governing authority of the Episcopal Church. Because we only meet for 10 days, and only every three years, we will be very busy. On my blog, I have provided an overview of General Convention as well as a description of some of the issues we will be discussing. I am serving on the Prayer Book, Liturgy and Church Music committee, which will be looking at same sex blessings and marriage as well as other areas of our worship life. You can see a list of resolutions that will be considered by my committee here.
Because of our internet era, there are many ways for you to stay connected to the goings on of convention. I will post updates on my blog. I and other deputies from our diocese (Northern California,) will be posting on the diocesan blog. The Episcopal Church has a good webpage where you can find the names of all the deputies (bottom left corner of the page,) a live resolution tracker (that should become "live" once convention starts, a list of all of the resolutions we will be considering as well as a great deal of other information. Here is a page that lists resolutions by topic.
I hope you stay connected with what is happening at General Convention and please feel free to comment on my blog or email me at bnbaker83@gmail.com if you want to give me any input.
Blessings,
Brian Baker

Family Promise Week
August 12-19
The theme for the season of Pentecost is "Come Alive with the Holy Spirit"!! It is exciting that Trinity will be hosting Family Promise week during this joyful time - August 12-19. I invite you to come and be a part of reviving/comforting the spirits of our families, and my guess is that your spirits will be revived and thriving in the process!!
As the coordinator for our Family Promise ministry I was delighted that so many of you stepped forward to help make our last hostessing week a wonderful success. There were many new faces added to our group of dedicated volunteers. That's what it is all about - being in community with one another, laughing, sharing meals and companionship with our Family Promise families. Come and share some time with us. I promise you will not be disappointed. The sign-up sheet is in the hallway outside of the bookshop.
I am available for any and all questions you might have about how you can help make a contribution.

Looking for a Home

Hi - my name is Sandy - when you see my coat of fur - you will understand how I got my name. I also have blue eyes - you guessed it! I'm a Siamese mix/lynx point female kitty. I'm a little shy, but once I warm up to you, you will find a gentle affectionate companion who you will enjoy hanging out with.
Presently I'm in a foster home but am actively looking for my "forever home" with a special person who I can appreciate and love.
I'm three years old, petite, have been spayed and micro-chipped; I've had all my vaccines, and am FELV/FIV negative. I would best fit into a home where there are no other pets and adult only family member(s). If you could find space in your life and heart for me, would you contact Jean Post at 530-735-6585 or cndlncones@netzero.net. I'll be waiting to hear from you. |
