HOT OFF THE GRILL

Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Newsletter

Dear (Contact First Name),

Valentine's Day is on February 14th and celebrated around the world to recognize the love you have for that special someone or spouse. Women love the surprises they receive on Valentine's Day while men are usually not as enthusiastic.  We intend to change that here at Gayle's Sweet'N'Sassy Foods.  We all know that women love receiving jewelry, chocolates, or flowers for Valentine's Day (This will never change).  Although these are lovely gifts for women, we know what men would really love... BARBECUE! Whatever you like to barbecue, make sure you use Gayle's Sweet'N'Sassy Barbecue Sauce.  If you like sass, we suggest you use Gayle's Extra Sassy Flavor for a little extra spice ;) And if you just want to have a nice sweet dinner with your honey, Gayle's Honey Sweet is perfect.

Now for all our single friends out there, Valentine's Day may have been the saddest holiday of year before but not anymore! Nothing better than inviting all your single friends and having a Single Awareness Day party.  Invite all your sweet, sassy, plain, and yes the sourpuss one's too.  Everyone will leave happy after trying Gayle's Honey Sweet, Extra Sassy, Chipotle, Original, and Apple Cider Smoke BBQ Sauce.  Gayle's Barbecue Sauce is not only great for cooking, it delicious when used as a dip or salad dressing.

We all hope you have a sweet and extra sassy Valentine's Day.

Be on the lookout for Gayle's Chipotle at Pavilions/Vons as well as Original and Chipotle flavors in selected Whole Foods.  Remember, you can always request Gayle's Barbecue sauce from the store manager. If you are looking for our Extra Sassy flavor, Whole Foods will bring it in upon request.

Give someone you love a big hug as hugs certainly feel good, both on the giving and receiving end.It turns out their effects are more than skin deep. A study by University of N. Carolina, researchers found that hugs increase the "bonding" hormone oxytocin and decrease the risk of heart disease. Levels of the stress hormone cortisol decreased in woman as did their blood pressure. So give that special person a big hug and a bottle of Gayle's Honey Sweet Barbeque sauce for Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentine 's Day from Gayle's Sweet'N'Sassy Foods

Enjoy!

Lil Gayle's Recipe Corner!

What's cookin' for the Big Game this weekend? Ribs & wings! And these recipes are awesome. A little spicy, a little sweet... and a lot delicious. Your Super Bowl party guests will be impressed.

Ribs with Smokey Chipotle BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons ancho chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon thyme
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 rack of baby back ribs, about 3 lbs

1 bottle of Gayle's Chipotle BBQ Sauce

Instructions:
1. Combine dry ingredients and add the olive oil to make a smooth paste. Rub over the ribs. Refrigerate 2 hours, or up to overnight.
2. Cook the ribs in a covered gas grill or charcoal barbeque, using the indirect heat method, according to manufacturers' directions. Cook approximately one hour, or until very tender. Remove ribs from the grill, wrap in foil, and set aside. (Ribs can be made ahead to this point, store in refrigerator.)

3. Heat the grill as for direct cooking method. Remove the ribs from the foil and grill, basting with Gayle's Chipotle BBQ Sauce until heated through and the sauce is well glazed. Serve with extra sauce for dipping.

BBQ Buffalo Wings
Ingredients:
4 lbs. chicken wings
1 cup Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy BBQ Sauce (EXTRA SASSY OR HONEY)
1 cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp. garlic powder
Baking pans with wire racks

Instructions:
1.Separate the chicken wings at the joint with kitchen shears or a sharp knife. Cut off the tips of the wings so they don't burn in the oven.
2. Put the chicken wings in a ziplock plastic bag. Pour in the Gayle's BBQ Sauce. Shake the bag to coat the chicken with the sauce.
3.Set the bag in a bowl and put it in the refrigerator overnight, or for at least 3 hours. Shake the bag occasionally to keep the BBQ sauce distributed over the chicken.
4.Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
5.Drain the chicken wings and discard the sauce. Combine the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a flat dish.
6. Dredge the chicken wings in the flour mixture. Shake off excess flour and place wings on a rack in a roasting pan. Don't crowd the wings.
7.Bake for 45 minutes or until the chicken is starting to crisp along the edges and the coating is golden brown. Turn the chicken once during cooking. Remove from the oven and serve with dipping sauces.
