HOT OFF THE GRILL

Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Newsletter

Dear (Contact First Name),

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. Dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the "workingman's holiday". The holiday is dedicated to YOU in respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, big company, small companies, or government. Hey, as long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you so what better way than to enjoy yourself with a barbecue using your favorite Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Barbecue Sauce!

Light up the grill and have a great cookout with Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Barbecue Sauce! Whether you choose to make steaks, ribs or even hot dogs or hamburgers, be sure to make it easy on yourself. Many barbecue or grilling recipes require time to marinate. Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Barbecue Sauce is so flavorful that no marinating is needed so you'll have plenty time to make the fire, mix the drinks and socialize.

Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. Kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. Celebrate this weekend with one last barbecue before the kids go back to school with Gayle's BBQ Sauce!

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, 2013 begins on the sunset of Wednesday, the 4th of September and ends in the evening of Friday, September 6, 2013.

A key component of Rosh Hashanah preparation is to ask for forgiveness from anyone one may have wronged during the previous year. To whatever extent possible, we want to begin the year with a clean slate - and without anyone harboring a grudge against us. One should also be quick to forgive those who have wronged him.

Here at Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Foods, we strive to be people who embrace the kinds of values, ideals, and choices that will fill our days with life: With meaning, with goodness, with spirituality. So bring some sweetness into this New Year with Gayle's Honey Sweet Barbecue sauce! If your local Vons/Pavilions doesn't carry our Honey Sweet flavor you can request it along with our other four flavors.

From my family to yours, I would like to wish you all a happy and sweet year!

Enjoy!

Give your kids the energy they need to make it through the day with a healthy lunch. Studies have shown that if you equip your children with healthy food to eat at school, they will be better prepared to study and learn. Although there are lots of convenience products available to make packing your kid's lunchbox a snap, those products are often loaded with saturated fat and preservatives. Our collection of kid-friendly ideas take little time to prepare and will help keep lunches enjoyable and healthy. Fruits and vegetables add color and crunch while providing beneficial vitamins and minerals. Lunch box items like wraps and dips are fun to eat. Give your kids something to look forward to at lunch every day with a variety of options they won't trade away!

Here are a few "Back to School" lunch and snack ideas sure to get an A+!

BBQ Chicken Subs
Ingredients
1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken
1/4 cup shredded carrots
2 tablespoons Gayle's Original BBQ Sauce
2 teaspoons light ranch dressing
1 small whole-wheat sandwich bun
1 leaf romaine lettuce

Preparation
1.Combine chicken, carrots and Gayle's barbecue sauce in a bowl. Spread ranch dressing on the bun. Top with the chicken mixture and lettuce. Enjoy!

BBQ Turkey Roll ups
Ingredients
wheat flour tortilla
Turkey slices
Gayle's BBQ Sauce
carrots and bell pepper
Preparation
1. Pour 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce in the center of a flattened tortilla. Spread the sauce with the back of the spoon until it covers the tortilla in a thin layer.
2 Layer the turkey slices over the barbecue sauce.
3. Spread a layer of shredded lettuce over the turkey.
4. Add chopped carrot and chopped red pepper to the lettuce layer. The vegetable bits give the roll-up a nice crunch and add a dab of moisture.
5. Roll the tortilla tightly, starting from the edge nearest you. Apply gentle pressure to the top as you roll it over into a tube.
6. Place the rolled tortilla on a sheet of foil. Hold the end of the foil against the tortilla and roll it up into a tight tube. Pinch the ends to seal. Alternatively, tuck the roll-up into a large plastic zipper bag and roll the bag around the roll-up, pressing out air as you go. Seal the bag closed.

**DON'T forget to include a small sealed container of Gayle's BBQ Sauce for dipping veggies, or anything else they enjoy!
