Greetings!
There is a German proverb that translated says, "It is easy to become a father, but hard to Be a father." Carole's mom passed away last week. She had lived with us for the past 6 years, but even before that my boys saw their grandparents at least weekly. Their grief and sorrow was deep and engrossing. It hurt me to stand with them and see my children in pain. I searched for words to console them and looked for a way to shoulder some of their anguish. It was a very hard day for me.
How many times did your Father shoulder a burden to make your day easier? As children we probably didn't know. Our fathers' just did it without the need to bring attention to their deeds. Next Sunday, June 16th, is Father's Day, a day to remember all the little nothings that our Dads do every day. Your Dad doesn't need a thank you; just walk up to him and give him a hug. I guarantee it will make his day. No words necessary.
June is also the month of graduations. Graduates and parents have every right to be proud. Think of the work you have put in to accomplish your degree. Also it is a perfect time to commit to accomplish even more in the next stage of your career; be it academic or in the workplace. A big Congratulations to the members of our staff that have graduated. Carole and I enjoy watching our young people mature, and grow into accomplished adults.
All of us at Reinwald's Bakery consider it a privilege to provide that special cake during these joyous occasions.
Please enjoy your days,

P.s. This month's recipe is Grandma's Potato Salad. We had featured it once before. Many readers have commented how good it is and we felt it a little tribute to mom to feature it again. |
