Greetings!
We have been keeping a secret. Due to ridiculous, overwhelming, and voluminous popular demand we will be hosting a rooftop celebration honoring business in Beaverton on August 2nd. That's all I'm going to share for now - but keep your eyes peeled and ears open for the in's and out's of what we are planning and how you can be a part of it as we roll into March and beyond. Huge thanks to SKB for once again helping us lift off and get this rolling. Other returning and wonderful sponsors that have already said yes are the City of Beaverton, Lanphere Construction and Development, Madden Industrial Craftsmen, Nike, Westcoast Event Productions and the list keeps on growing.
Hope to see you all this evening at Rock Creek Corner for Business After Hours from 5:30 - 7:30pm.
Finish your week strongly and productively.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Clarno, President/CEO, ACE Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce 503.350.2006

The Chamber and Small Business Development Center -
Your chamber continues to create strong service partnerships on behalf of the small business community in Beaverton. The chamber is privileged to partner with the Small Business Development Center- Portland Community College (SBDC-PCC), a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. TheChamber hosts SBDC advisor, Jon-Michael Kowertz every first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and third Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for free and confidential, one-on-one business advising.

On-the-Job Training Reimbursements Available for Local Businesses
WorkSource Centers are currently offering reimbursements to support local businesses for providing On-the-Job Training (OJT) to their newly-hired employees. Through state and federal grants (via WorkSystems, Inc.), WorkSource is able to reimburse companies up to 50% of the wages for their new hires during the training period.
Hundreds of small and medium-sized companies throughout Washington and Multnomah Counties have utilized the OJT Program over the past few years to train and keep skilled, productive workers. This program has proven to be a very cost-effective way to develop talent for businesses that require unique or niche skill sets. It also benefits the economy by helping job seekers who may be otherwise highly-qualified for a job but for the lack of a couple of missing skills. Examples of successful OJT's in Washington County this past year have included a wide range of skilled occupations, such as warehouse workers, bookkeepers, field service technicians, electronics technicians, and software developers.
For more information about the OJT Program or to see if your business is eligible, contact your local WorkSource Center. Businesses located in Washington County, call 503-526-2712 (Alicia) or 503-612-4214 (Bryan). Businesses in Multnomah County, call 503-280-6633 (Rhonda) or 503-669-7112, ext. 250 (Miriam).

Representing Business to Government...
Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.
NEXT MEETING: March 6, 2014. 7:30 - 8:30am
Topics will include the TVF&R and Beaverton School District Bond presentations.
We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.
All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.

Michelle's Membership Corner

Be a star!! Our new benefit that allows you to attach a video to your online directory listing is so popular we have added a second day! We are now taping on both February 26th and 27th and only have 4 spots left between both days. Email Michelle if you are interested in this great opportunity. We not only will put the video in your online directory, but you get a copy of the video for your use as well. Gold level and above members are welcome to take advantage of this benefit included their membership.

As you all know the Chamber video tapes the testimonials given by all of you each week and posts these on our social media sites. The other benefit to these is that you, the Chamber Members, can copy these videos and post them on your websites and social media pages as well. To respect the business you are giving a testimonial to, please practice your statement ahead of time and keep the length to 30 seconds. Testimonials that are longer lose the interest of the potential customer watching them.
Member Calendar:
When visiting the Chamber website on the home page, you will now see a short cut link to the new Member Calendar, directly adjacent to the "Calendar" short cut. Please visit this page to see where to connect with your fellow members.
You asked and the Chamber is delivering:
