Greetings!
The board is challenging all of our committees and event volunteers to think different, think change, think relevant! Over the next few weeks - our tried and true Friday Coffee Connections - will be a "work in progress" as our fantastic Ambassador team has really embraced the challenge. The old adage of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is not necessarily healthy today. We need to be constantly challenging the status quo and finding ways to help our members grow. While some new and different things are introduced and some familiar things set aside....we promise - we will be listening with open ears. Let's have some fun and freshen things up!
Don't be surprised when you are asked "Who do you need to connect with today?". The Ambassadors are gearing up to maximize your time spent at our business building events to make sure you meet the right people.
Ask yourself Thursday evening while relaxing, "What type of business do I need to meet tomorrow?". Do you have a personal or business need? Ask when you check in to meet a carpet cleaner, an attorney and a plumber...............they are going to get you relationship building right away.
You've asked and we've listened! Sue Ragsdale is putting together a Beaverton Community Expo for July 20th at Beaverton City Park (across from the fountain & Farmers Market). This is a business to consumer show opportunity. The Farmers Market and busy City Library traffic ensure a great draw. Tables can be purchased for $175. More details below or available on our website.
Finish your week strong & productively!
Sincerely, Lorraine Clarno, President/CEO, ACE Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce 503.350.2006

Representing Business to Government...
Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.
2013 Legislative Priorities & Agenda ....RELEASED
NEXT MEETING: We are taking July off for summer vacation - see you back in August where we will begin looking at potential issues and ballot measures for the November election.
We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.
All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.

Leadership Beaverton 2014!
The Class of 2014 is now open and registrations are being accepted. LB is a community awareness and professional development opportunity for anyone that wants to better understand and contribute to the fabric of our great community. Stop for a moment and ask yourself if you understand the how's and why's of the things in your day to day life just seem to "happen". Water comes out of your faucet when you wash your hands, traffic lights work and control flow, why Canyon Rd. and Farmington are such challenging main arterials and why the railroad tracks dissect Beaverton on a highway - and what's being done about it? Why are the names Hall, Carr, Biggi & Fanno so significant in our town? Have you passed by St. Mary's Home for Boys on TV Highway and wondered - "What goes on in there"? 93 languages are spoken in our schools and how can you make that asset work for your business?
This program is fun, informative and one where you build relationships - personal and professional - for a life time.
Full details and the application are available here - please email Lorraine with questions.
