Greetings!

"When used correctly, social media can make membership in the chamber of commerce even more attractive to area businessmen. What's the trick to making this happen? According to Frank J. Kenny, a social media expert who frequently speaks to chambers and their members, the chamber's social media efforts must be primarily about the members, not about the chamber itself. This makes members feel valued, and shows that the organization cares about their success." OnineMBAPage.com (an online community for MBA students world wide).

550 out of 5,000+ Chambers met their minimum criteria - then from 550.........

BEAVERTON Area Chamber of Commerce - #69 in the Nation and #1 in the State of OREGON!

Congrats to our friends at the Salem Chamber of Commerce, the only other Oregon Chamber to make the top 100 (#88).

I personally want to thank Matt Payne, Social Bridge Media, our board member and my mentor in this ever-changing world of social media. We now have data AND the challenge has been laid down! We will be shooting to move up that ladder now into the top 10 for 2013/2014. We have PROOF that we promote the heck out of our members with these tools and it is working!

The Chamber and Small Business Development Center Partner in 2013

Your chamber continues to create strong service partnerships on behalf of the small business community in Beaverton. The chamber is privileged to partner with the Small Business Development Center- Portland Community College (SBDC-PCC), a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. TheChamber hosts SBDC advisor, Jon-Michael Kowertz every first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and third Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for free and confidential, one-on-one business advising.

As additional resource for small businesses in Beaverton, owners and entrepreneurs can schedule an appointment for SBDC advising and conveniently meet at the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce. Candidates for advising may need help in business start-up, marketing, planning, financing, loan package development and more. Business advising is at no charge and does not require chamber membership. To learn more about how the SBDC can help your business or to arrange an appointment contact the chamber at 503-350-2007 or email Jessica.

Join the Beaverton Better Buildings Challenge!

Buildings throughout our country waste energy because they are not efficient. This greatly contributes to the amount of fuel we purchase and to America's energy independence. Taking simple steps can reduce energy use, and the money saved can be spent on growing local businesses, investing in new technologies, and creating jobs in our community. The City of Beaverton, in collaboration with PGE, Energy Trust, and NW Natural invite you to join the Better Buildings Challenge and receive a free energy consultation and more.
