Greetings!

What a week this has been!

YEA! we are so excited and proud to announce that Oregonians Credit Union is our Presenting Sponsor for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy -YEA!  What an amazing partnership this will be along with the Chamber, Beaverton School District and Portland Community College.

This program helps local students see the benefits of CREATING jobs and not taking jobs! Students will learn about entrepreneurship by teaching them how to write a business plan, pitch to potential investors, obtain funding, and then launch their company or social movement.  All of the learning is real and experiential.

YEA! students become involved in the community as they meet with business mentors, guest speakers, and business professionals; tour local businesses; and host Investor Panel and Trade Show events.

The Beaverton Chamber is honored to be the first in Oregon to launch the YEA! program.  Classes start November 2013.  Stay tuned for more information and continue to check our website for updates. Please share this good news with parents and students.  Contact Evelyn Orr, YEA! Program Mgr. at 503 350 2004.

Join the Beaverton Better Buildings Challenge!

Buildings throughout our country waste energy because they are not efficient. This greatly contributes to the amount of fuel we purchase and to America's energy independence. Taking simple steps can reduce energy use, and the money saved can be spent on growing local businesses, investing in new technologies, and creating jobs in our community. The City of Beaverton, in collaboration with PGE, Energy Trust, and NW Natural invite you to join the Better Buildings Challenge and receive a free energy consultation and more.
